Oh... and remember me being a witney stan??? she was the first dwts person I unfollowed on insta bc I was fed up with all of her fakeness and constant sponsored posts... oops 🙊
I fell for the show fast, and wanted to know all there was. In a matter of weeks, I learned all there was to know about ballroom and Latin dance, and felt like I needed a place to talk about my new love, so this Twitter was born
this happened with dwts. I had a friend who watched it and she got me hooked, especially bc that season an actress from my fave show was competing (janel) as well as a YouTuber I loved (Bethany)
so now here we are. I’m not deleting this account, but I don’t plan to go on it much (not that I do now anyways lmao) but dwts will always still have a special place in my heart.
I fell out of the fandom as quickly as I got into it. I gradually stopped checking this account bc of the drama and not being as involved with dwts, and that’s where we are now. In a perfect world, id still watch the show, but I don’t have time rivht now.
Anyways, around the same time, I believe it was season 23 or 24, I had to stop watching dwts bc I had no time anymore. I fell so behind that I couldn’t catch up, and it made me loose touch with the fandom even more.
Nonetheless, I felt like no one liked me anymore, and it tore up my self confidence. Rather than this being somewhere I could be myself, it became somewhere where I was trying to impress everyone.
but of course, things changed. As the fandom changed and grew, new friend groups formed, and I found myself doing anything I could to stay part of the “in group”. I stayed up all night on periscopes, tried to make good jokes in group chats, I wanted to be liked.
I especially loved feeling like I was part of the in crowd. I’m not proud of it, but I reveled in telling people they couldn’t be in the group. I felt special, and didn’t want to share.
