Mike Johnson would hate for you to know that nearly 40% of his district is on Medicaid.
Or that 1.6 million Louisianans — about 35% of the state — rely on it.
It would be terrible if this information went viral.
Let's talk for a minute about Vance Luther Boelter's appointment to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board by Tim Walz.
1. He was reappointed. The initial appointment was by the prior Governor, Mark Dayton, who was also a Democrat in 2016.
2. The committee has 41 members, and is a nonpartisan, advisory only committee.
3. The role of the committee is to advise on how to train and utilize the workforce.
4. By legislation, there are 41 members on the committee representing different sectors panning business, labor, education, community organizations, government, and bipartisan legislative members, with a "majority" being required to be from the business sector.
5. Based on its size, mandated diversity, and non-partisan nature, it is likely there are both Democrats and Republicans on the committee, which has no legislative function.
6. Appointment is through an application process where the appointee applies for it.
7. Putting all of this togehter, we can conclude that Boelter's appointment to the board has not got a single fucking thing to do with his politics.
8. Belter's politics are also known. He is a registered Republican, whose best friend since 4th grade says he was a Trump supporter, who preached in Africa about the evils of transgender and gay people, and who had 50 of the near 70 people on his target list who were either abortion providers or pro-choice advocates.
To act like in any way, shape or form, that his "politics" were uncertain, or left-leaning, is to obtusely, obdurately, and obscenely, shove your head up your ass.
Any questions?

Van, thank you for expressing the sorrow and relief that we all feel. My hope is that those who hoped for a different outcome will take a moment to empathize with the pain so many of us have felt over the past four years.
