Leadership is magnified in crisis. What you do is seen by staff, community, & higher ups. Here are 4 tips:
1) Concern for your staff. Check on them personally
2) Focus on big picture. micromanaging staff work is NOT big picture
3) Empathy
4) Communicate quality> quantity

Districts, remember your teachers aren’t immune to this crisis either. Please show them the same kindness, support, patience, understanding, and love that you are expecting them to show their students and their families.

I love the districts who are putting teachers first. They are not micromanaging them. Trusting them to reach out to their students & letting them take care of their own families first & checking in on their health. These districts rock & your teachers love you for it & so do I!

With the demands & expectations put on teachers right now, my fear is there will be an even higher attrition rate which could put a tremendous strain on education near year. Districts please make sure you’re supporting your teachers properly along with realistic expectations.
