6 Businesses You Should Not Do In Nigeria If You Want To Live Long

This is not really business advice — it’s a warning about your health.

In this country, some businesses won’t just stress you… they can affect your blood pressure, your peace of mind, and your mental health.

If you already have health issues, please think carefully before starting any of these.

1. Public Transport Business (Danfo, Keke, Bus, Logistics)

I ran this business for 3+ years managing 40 vehicles and using over 200 drivers in 3 years.

So, when I talk about this, I know exactly what I am saying.

You wake up with hope.
You sleep with frustration.

Drivers will:

Travel one route and report another

Buy fuel at ₦30k and bring receipt of ₦70k

Damage your vehicle and say, “Oga, na brake fail”

Add police stops, LASTMA wahala, mechanic, road conditions...

You will start the business smiling.
In 6 months, your doctor will know your name personally.

2. Building Materials Supply (Cement, Iron Rod, etc.)

One day price is ₦5,500...

Next week it is ₦7,500... no explanation.

Customers will:

Price you like you are their enemy
Delay payments for months

Blame you for market changes you didn’t create
Meanwhile, suppliers are increasing prices like they are chasing something.

3. School Business (Low/Middle Income Areas)

This one is emotional stress + financial stress combined.

Parents will owe school fees for 2–3 terms

Teachers want salary every month (rightly so)

Government policies can change anytime

You will be running a “ministry” instead of a business.

If you are not strong mentally and financially, this business can drain you quietly

4. Poultry Business

This one has sent many people into prayer and panic.

15 years ago I had a poultry with over 700 birds.

If I tell you that poultry business can kill you
before your time, just believe me.

Why poultry can raise your BP:

Feed price can jump suddenly

Birds can die in large numbers

Disease outbreak can wipe out months of effort
Weather affects production

Egg prices can crash when supply is high

Medication and vaccines are not cheap

Imagine feeding hundreds or thousands of birds every day with rising cost... only for market price to refuse to cooperate.

You are spending money every single day whether sales are sweet or not.

That kind of pressure is not for the faint-hearted.
One bad cycle can humble even a very confident entrepreneur.

5. Forex Trading/ Crypto

Do you honestly want me to talk about this?

I doubt if you are ready for it.

No business in this world is as volatile as forex.

Forex is not just a business. It is an emotional rollercoaster disguised as opportunity.

The market can move against you in seconds
You can lose money faster than you made it
Profit today... loss tomorrow

News, policies, global events can affect your trade instantly

Please, don't go near if you have any sort of health issue related to BP.

6. Event Planning / Rentals (Chairs, Canopies, Decorations)

Everything looks glamorous on Instagram...
But behind the scenes:

Clients will price you till your ancestors feel it

They will delay payment till the event day
After event, half your chairs will vanish

Rain can scatter everything in 10 minutes.
And guess who they will blame?
You.

It’s not that these businesses are bad.

People are making millions from them.

But here is what nobody tells you:

👉 Some businesses require strong emotional stamina

👉 Some require tight systems and controls

👉 Some require experience and street wisdom

If you don’t have these...

you will pay with your health.

Simple Rule:

Before you enter any business in Nigeria, ask yourself:

“Do I have the temperament, structure, and strength for this?”

Because in this country, profit is not just about money...

it is about survival.

If this opened your eyes, share it. Someone needs to see this before they “invest” their BP into the wrong business.
