Today the Ager Lab at @MayoClinic officially opened its doors! So thrilled to start this adventure, and thankful to friends and mentors that helped me get here.
I’m recruiting at all levels, so please RT to spread the word! More info at our website:

Congratulations to Dr. Casey Ager and his lab for their first R01 from the NCI! The 5-year grant is to study the role of TRPS1 in antitumor activity. This will hopefully lead to the discovery of a new therapeutic target for GU cancers and potentially other cancer types.
Cancers of the reproductive and urinary organs, known as genitourinary cancers, affect millions of people worldwide each year. At Mayo Clinic, Yousef Zakharia, M.D., a medical oncologist and chair of the Genitourinary Disease Group at the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, leads clinical research aimed at improving outcomes for patients with kidney, bladder and prostate cancers.

New pre-print out! 🚨
Targeted Treg depletion has been a long sought-after goal in cancer, with few if any clinical successes to date. Next-gen CTLA-4 drugs have been engineered for this purpose, but do they work? Read on to find out:

🚨Excited to share our latest study on immunotherapy for prostate cancer, out today at @CellRepMed!
We hope this paves the way for further translation of Fc-enhanced CTLA-4 antibodies by showing evidence of tumor Treg depletion in patients.

Fitting day to have our first Treg-focused paper from the lab published! Congrats to superstar postdoc Nilika Bhattacharya for her hard work perfecting this 38-marker spectral flow panel to dissect human Treg heterogeneity

Landmark day in the lab as flow guru and awesome postdoc @CollinJugler runs the first 51-color flow cytometry experiment in lab history! Breaking the 50-marker mark in style with help from our friends at @CytekBio@BDBiosciences#CYTO2025
Excited to share our recent multi-center study showing PSMA+EVs are prognostic and predictive in oligometastatic prostate cancer treated with SBRT. Validation studies are ongoing. A future for EV-guided therapy! @MayoUrology@MayoRadOnc

Thankful and proud of my awesome team who worked together tirelessly over the last week getting the Ager Lab up and running in our shiny new lab space at @MayoClinic’s new Integrated Education and Research Building (IERB) on Mayo’s Phoenix campus!
We’d love to hear your feedback! For those interested, my lab at Mayo AZ (@MayoClinic@MayoCancerCare@MayoUrology) is eagerly digging into these mechanisms to develop new and better immunotherapy approaches for prostate cancer. Please join us…. or fund us!! (17/17)
Prostate tumors are notoriously poorly immune infiltrated, so access to surgical tissue afforded the rare opportunity for orthogonal immune profiling by CyTOF, scRNAseq and spatial. As in our past work, @califano_lab’s PISCES pipeline brought the scRNAseq data to life.

Another huge thank you to the many additional contributors not called out here that put so much effort into this study. It was as a huge team effort. And of course, thank you most of all to patients and their families for participating in this study! (16/17)
