@emily_fri Peds PD here. I always say expect about 3 years to feel really comfortable in your practice once you graduate. Now is the time to trust all those attendings who said you ARE ready and poured themselves into getting you there. Fly little bird! You’ve got this!! ❤️
Y’all. This is my dad, and his elderly golden retriever Grace. Grace lived her entire life outside and unsocialized until just 6 months ago when my dad rescued her. It’s been a little rough, but today they graduated from PetSmart. I don’t know which of them is more proud 🥺😭🥰
@Carlee_Bree ❤️❤️If you see something, say something! Let’s continue to normalize medical providers taking care of ourselves and each other - not just our patients! @OuPeds
Good morning, future doctors! Here’s a quick thread 🧵 about our innovative X+Y curriculum— it’s been a game-changer for our residency program! (1/10) @FuturePedsRes#PedsMatch22#PedsTwitter
Resilience should mean 'able to cope with normal-but-stressful' situations. Medicine seems to interpret it as 'functioning 100% normally at all times no matter what has happened'. It's a toxic conflation and harms students and trainees who have experienced trauma.
@AlanHawxbyMD@CodyDalton93@OU_Surgery Yes, welcome to Okla-HOME-a! And of course, here in peds we are always delighted to hear of pediatric surgery interest! 👶👏🏼
Med schools are judged by student match rate so forced to move to P/F and homogenized, glowing MSPEs. Programs are judged by board pass rates so forced to prioritize grades/scores. Competing agendas lead to unethical practices with students caught in the middle. Let’s do better!
I think the residency selection process can be improved if we all agree upon some basic guiding principles.
That’s why I signed the “UME to GME Transition Bill of Rights.”

@londyloo My soapbox! Love letters from programs should be banned. Preying upon applicants’ terror of not matching is manipulative and shameful (yes, PDs know exactly how to be vague enough to not get a violation) @FuturePedsRes
