it was chaos for 20 seconds or so, as the gotham alliance’s landlords coalition marched theatrically by to competing chants from the tenants’ bloc. they passed by without any physical confrontation.
gianna sansonetti, 23, organized her building against the landlord, A&E, one of the city’s most notorious and the subject of a historic settlement during mamdani’s first few weeks in office. she will be testifying later in favor of a rent freeze.
renette bradley told city limits that she’s fighting for a rent freeze because tenants “need a chance to breathe.” she says that landlords have a lot of resources already and should stop being greedy.
