The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has launched its “School Theek Karo Abhiyan” in Uttarakhand, questioning the government over the reported closure of 826 government schools in the last five years.

CJP North Zone coordinator Shreshth Singh has given the government 10 days to explain the closures and publish a school-wise report covering enrolment, teachers, facilities, reasons for closure, local population and the distance to the nearest alternative school.

The party has also raised concerns about basic facilities, claiming that 270 government schools lack drinking-water facilities, while several schools in the hills continue to face shortages of teachers and essential infrastructure.

Its demands include a district-wise education roadmap with deadlines for teachers, drinking water, toilets, electricity, safe buildings and transport facilities for children in remote areas.

CJP has warned that if the government does not provide a satisfactory explanation and roadmap within 10 days, it will begin peaceful protests after October 2.
