The management of a mobility engineering company, on their earnings call, said that the mentality of a few people in India is so low that they want you to fail somehow so that they can jump on their soapbox and claim brownie points with "I told you so."

The mocking and negativity that Laurus Labs faced during 2023 and 2024 were insane. They kept explaining the rationale behind the capital allocation, but people ignored that and purely focused on the reported low EBITDA, CDMO sales drop, and ROCE compression, among other low/negative attributes in the published numbers.

One of the costliest mistakes in investing is judging a business on things management can't actually control.

Exact revenue guidance. A directional outlook is fine.

Regulatory approvals? Who can predict those?

Customer decisions take their own time, and management cannot influence them through talk.

Clinical timelines. You seed a Phase 2 drug development programme today and wait for at least five years before a ~30% probability of success. Now model that in your DCF!

The timing of commercial launches. It takes a few years to scale up from day one of a commercial launch. Nothing works in a jiffy in deep-tech manufacturing. 99% of social media will never get it; everyone wants instant gratification. Bhaw Bhagwaan Che!

None of those are really in management's hands.

What can they control?

Capability. Manufacturing. Capital allocation. Culture.

I wasn't there to hear forecasts.

I wanted to understand how they thought, how they built capability, and how they allocated capital.

I wasn't trying to predict the next quarter.

I was trying to understand what the business could look like ten years from then.

That simple shift in thinking changed the way I invest. The ideas in the book aren't about one company or one industry. They're thinking tools for making better decisions whenever the future is uncertain.

Telecom Companies ऐसे Recharge Plans offer करती हैं जिनमें ‘Daily Data Limits’ जैसे 1.5GB, 2GB या 3GB per day होती हैं, जो हर 24 hours में reset हो जाती हैं। बचा हुआ data midnight पर expire हो जाता है, जबकि उसके पूरे पैसे पहले ही दिए जा चुके होते हैं।

आपको 2GB के लिए charge किया जाता है। आप 1.5GB use करते हैं। बचा हुआ 0.5GB दिन खत्म होते ही गायब हो जाता है। कोई refund नहीं। कोई rollover नहीं।

मैंने आज यह मुद्दा Parliament में उठाया की जिस data के लिए हमने पूरी payment की है, वो दिन समाप्त होने पर Expire नहीं होना चाहिए।

बचा हुआ data अगले दिन की data limit में carry forward होना चाहिए, ताकि users Data इस्तेमाल कर सकें जिसके लिए उन्होंने पह��े ही pay किया है।

संसद में आज मेरी demands हैं -

1.सभी users के लिए Data carry-forward / Data rollover की सुविधा दी जाए। जो data दिन के अंत तक use नहीं होता, उसे अगले दिन की limit में add किया जाए, न कि validity खत्म होते ही ख़त्म कर दिया जाए।

2.अगले महीने के recharge amount में unused data का adjustment का option दिया जाए। अगर कोई user लगातार अपना data under-utilise करता है, तो अगले monthly recharge में उस value का adjustment या discount मिलना चाहिए। users को बार-बार उस लिमिट के लिए pay नहीं करना चाहिए जो वे use ही नहीं करते।

3.Unused data को relatives और friends को transfer करने का option दिया जाए। Unused data को user की digital property माना जाना चाहिए। उपभोक्ता को अपने daily data limit से unused data दूसरों को transfer करने की permission होनी चाहिए, बिल्कुल उसी तरह जैसे पैसे transfer किए जा सकते हैं।

आज मोबाइल डेटा कोई luxury नहीं, Digital oxygen बन चुका है। टेलीकॉम कंपनियों की ये लूट बंद होनी चाहिए।

🚨 attention @AnthropicAI @claudeai @DarioAmodei this is UNACCEPTABLE for indian businesses!

you're charging 18% tax on claude subscriptions billed to india, but when asked for your Indian GST registration number (GSTIN), your support says "we don't have it available."

this creates a DOUBLE TAXATION nightmare for indian businesses:

layer 1: you charge 18% GST on the invoice ($18 on $100) BUT provide NO GSTIN > ITC cannot be claimed

layer 2: under indian GST law, import of services from an unregistered foreign supplier is subject to reverse charge mechanism (RCM), meaning I am ALSO legally liable to pay 18% GST again on the FULL invoice value ($118 × 18% = $21.24) to the Indian government!

so effectively:
❌ $18 paid to you (no ITC since no GSTIN)
❌ $21.24 payable under RCM to indian govt
= $39.24 in tax on a $100 subscription!

this is not just inconvenient, it is a serious GST compliance issue for every Indian business using claude.

you provide VAT numbers for UK & EU customers without hesitation. Why is India being treated as a second-class market?
