Two weeks later COVID hits and the world starts to shut down.
Life is way too fucking short.
Many of my friends I left in Nova Scotia I may not see again.
That fucking sucks
Hug your loved ones extra tight every time, because you never know
Allllll of this.
I have only ever set one New Years resolution in my life.
My resolution was “show up more” be it for myself, my friends, my family.
My mental health can make me seem flakey sometimes, and I hate it.
1/ On How Short Life Is
A few years ago, I was walking around in a blizzard in SoHo (New York). It was late, midnight, and it was beautiful.
Some friends, about 15 blocks away, called: "come over?"
It was late, it was cold, was tired, thought "maybe not worth it" but then...
I was so absolutely broken. I couldn’t eat, sleep or function really.
A month went by where I did not leave my house.
February 29th, 2020 my best friend and I go out to a bar. First time going out since moving home and after a break up. Had a wonderful night!
Making fun of someone for the little things just pushes them away, it’s not cute
Maybe mind your own business?
Maybe don’t be a dick?
Maybe do some healing?
“I didn’t know” is not good enough.
Nobody knows anything.
Just be nice to people, especially the ones you love
saw someone talk about how if Kim K, with all the money and resources in the world, can’t safely and simply divorce her husband without being harassed and stalked, then it’s about time we stop asking women in domestic violence situations the question “why doesn’t she just leave?”
It gives me so much anxiety because my brain thinks they are faking it. Surely people can’t be this nice???? Where have they been all these years??
It’s a huge learning curve for me, and it’s very scary, but I’m so thankful for this opportunity
My “boss” (idk if I call him that??) told me on the phone today that all the board members are educated people (engineers, doctors, everyone has a masters) and I almost cried
No one argues about global warming
No one argues about COVID
They all acknowledge it’s real
And this seems like something so minor but the public I dealt with while waitressing was so emotionally exhausting.
The public I deal with now is so grateful to be able to spend time outside while they can and they are so understanding about everything🥺
Starting a new job is scary
But starting a new job where they actually treat you like a human being and take concern with your comfort levels? TERRIFYING
I’m so excited for this chapter of healing and growing
