Watching “Assembled; The Making of X-Men ‘97” has me nerd-ing out about how cool an English/Soc/History class covering its relation to current issues in our world today. The language of “mutant” used to explore “otherness”, discrimination and injustice, and intolerance. Cmon!

“Days of Future Past” alone could be an allegory for totalitarianism and oppression. These comics foster empathy and understanding - and call into question the desire for the X-Men to protect individuals in a society that rejects them.
