@ProfessorStacie I found out that not all intervention strategies work for all children with exceptionalities. You have to work one on one with a child while have a classroom full of children. It takes getting to know the child and not just the exceptionality.
@ProfessorStacie Early intervention is so important for the student and their families. It helps understand the full disability of the student. As well as help the family understand the disability. It helps us, as educators, understand what the students needs and what tools we can use to help.
@ProfessorStacie These programs gives people with disabilities so many opportunities. It gives them social experiences and many hands-on activities that will help them grow. It shows the community even though some people are different they are still human with needs just like everyone else.
@ProfessorStacie I believe group work would be a great in the classroom for disabled children. It gives them social interactions with other children. I think popcorn reading would hinder those students with learning disabilities. It brings out the fear of being made fun of by their peers.
@ProfessorStacie As a future educator, I think it is important to know the rights for disabled children. This way you can help them get all the benefits they are eligible to receive. I also think it is important to know what’s going on when it comes to law and education.
@ProfessorStacie The most shocking thing was the curriculum the students have. When I was observing and listening to the lesson, I swore I didn’t learn any of that in 2nd Grade. Every year it seems like the state pushes students with more and more each year.
The STEA is holding a Duffle Drive to benefit Cumberland County's foster care system for K-12 students. If you would like to help with this project, they are collecting donations of: Non-Perishable Snacks, Cinch Bags, New Toiletries, Books, and Headphones.
@pedigo_morgan@ProfessorStacie I agree that we do need standardized testing to test the growth of students. I do think that there could be a better way to do this though.
@griffinpalmerrr @ProfessorStacie I agree! I believe that is why so many students have test anxiety. They are pushed too hard when it comes to standardize testing. I remember thinking, for me, it was a pass or fail situation when I took them.
@ProfessorStacie I believe test like TCAP is very beneficial for students. We need to see where students stand, individually and as a whole, academically. If they are not growing like how they should then we need to recognize that and help that student or students the best to our ability.
