There is widespread confusion regarding the revised UPI rules taking effect on October 15, 2026. Let's compress the facts and cut the noise so you know exactly how this impacts your wallet and your business operations.

👤 For Consumers (The General Public)

Zero Impact: You will not pay a single rupee extra when making payments.

Peer-to-Peer (P2P): Transferring money to friends, family, or between your own accounts remains completely free, regardless of the amount.

No Hidden Fees: Merchants and UPI apps are strictly prohibited from passing these new charges on to you at checkout.

🏪 For Merchants & Business Owners

Micro Transactions: Receiving payments up to ₹2,000 remains 100% free.

Small Vendor Exemption: If your monthly UPI QR collection is ₹1 Lakh or less, you are entirely exempt from these charges, even on larger individual payments.

The 0.4% Rule: For commercial transactions exceeding ₹2,000, a 0.4% Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) will now be deducted from your settlement.

The ₹300 Cap: The MDR maxes out at ₹300 per transaction (which triggers at ₹75,000).

Essential Sectors: Payments above ₹2,000 for railways, fuel, telecom, and insurance will incur a flat ₹5 fee instead of the percentage rate.

This framework is designed to sustain the infrastructure behind India's payment ecosystem by shifting the cost to larger commercial transactions. Because of the exemptions, 96% of all merchant transactions will remain completely unaffected.

@ICICILombard Your email asks policyholders to acknowledge the Customer Information Sheet (CIS), and even states that consent will be automatically accepted if the customer does not acknowledge it.

But the email itself does not provide the CIS contents, it mainly provides a link to acknowledge it.

Shouldn’t the CIS be provided/displayed in full before asking the customer to accept it, so the policyholder can actually read the coverage, exclusions, claims process and other key terms before giving consent?

@IRDAIIndia please clarify the expected standard for meaningful CIS acknowledgement and informed consent.

🚨 The "technical glitch" excuse is a smokescreen. We are witnessing deliberate algorithmic manipulation and targeted censorship by Big Tech.

​Let’s look at the timeline:

❌ 25 July 2026: Vicious AI deepfakes of Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Dharmendra Pradhan flood Meta’s platforms. Despite being flagged publicly, Meta's systems conveniently "fail" to block them, allowing malicious misinformation to rack up millions of views.

❌ 28 July 2026: PM Narendra Modi posts an authentic, verified video. Suddenly, Meta’s supposedly flawless moderation system springs into action to wrongly remove and restrict it.

​This contrast is not a coincidence or a coding error. Major technology platforms possess state-of-the-art AI designed to instantly detect synthetic content at scale.

The idea that their billion-dollar systems cannot spot viral political deepfakes but can "accidentally" block the Prime Minister's official account is an insult to our intelligence.

​Meta’s algorithms are being weaponized. Their detection systems appear highly effective at suppressing genuine, verified government communication, while their recommendation engines actively amplify synthetic, anti-government misinformation to drive engagement.

​This is blatant political interference. The pattern proves that platforms are abandoning neutrality to manipulate India’s digital information ecosystem.

​@GoI_MeitY @PIB_India @MIB_India @Cyberdost must stop settling for apologies and start enforcing strict, penal action for:

- ​Intentional algorithmic amplification of political deepfakes.

- ​Deliberate suppression and "shadowbanning" of authentic government voices.

- ​Foreign algorithmic bias functioning as domestic political interference.

​Foreign commercial entities cannot be allowed to dictate India's political narrative or compromise our digital sovereignty.

Big Tech is no longer a neutral host; it is an active, biased player, and it must face immediate regulatory consequences.
