The President of the United States woke up this morning and posted a 150-word personal attack on Bruce Springsteen.

Not on Iran. Not on the tariffs crashing global markets. Not on the recession warnings. Bruce Springsteen.

There is a standard psychological tool called the Hare Psychopathy Checklist. It has 20 items scored on a scale from 0 to 40. The cutoff for a diagnosis of psychopathy is 30.  The average person scores around 4. The average maximum security prisoner scores 22.  A panel of eminent psychiatrists assessed Trump before his 2024 sentencing in New York. He scored 36 out of 40. 

The 25th Amendment exists precisely for this. Section 4 allows the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet to declare the president unable to carry out his duties.  It has never been used. In any normally functioning democracy, the bar would be far lower. Most leaders in that position resign themselves.

Instead, this one is on Truth Social at 7:58 AM calling a rock legend a dried-up prune.

America is fighting a war it cannot exit in Iran. Markets are in freefall. Allies are making alternative plans.
And the man with the nuclear codes is writing concert reviews.

🚨🪖🎗️🇮🇱Vedo che questo post ha creato parecchio nervosismo. Le critiche mosse sono principalmente due:

1) "È troppo presto per festeggiare!".
2) "Sei di parte. Non è tutto bianco o tutto nero!".

Rispondo in maniera sintetica:

1) Non è troppo presto per festeggiare. Sono stato il primo, pochi giorni fa, a mettere in guardia da facili entusiasmi, a scrivere che "la pace è un'altra cosa". Ma i fatti sono fatti:

- Hamas oggi può tornare a imbracciare qualche fucile nelle strade della Striscia, ma è stato distrutto come movimento militare. Non rappresenta più una minaccia imminente nei confronti di Israele. Non dispone oggi delle capacità per ripetere un nuovo 7 ottobre.

- Gli ostaggi sono tornati a casa. E potete ripeterlo quanto volete, ma non sarebbe mai stato possibile un accordo diplomatico senza la pressione militare che Israele ha esercitato. Spero che almeno dentro di voi lo sappiate.

- La smilitarizzazione della Striscia e l'esclusione di Hamas dalla governance di Gaza sono altri due obiettivi del piano Trump. Sono a mio avviso i più complicati da ottenere per via diplomatica. Lo rivendico: l'ho scritto qualche giorno fa. Ma ciò non significa che oggi non si possa celebrare la vittoria della guerra - che è evidente, palese, a patto di non avere gli occhi bendati - e, soprattutto, il ritorno a casa degli ostaggi. Qui non c'è nulla da aspettare: si tratta di risultati già incassati.

2) È vero che sono di parte. L'ho scritto dal primo giorno - quel maledetto 7 ottobre - e lo ripeto l'ultimo (per quanto sappia già che difficilmente lo sarà). Ed è vero che in geopolitica ci sono sempre tante sfumature, che la verità e la ragione non sono sempre da una sola parte, che Israele ha commesso degli errori, che la popolazione civile palestinese ha sofferto enormemente. Tutto vero: ma non chiedetemi di essere equidistante tra un'organizzazione terroristica e uno Stato democratico. Non lo sono stato e non lo sarò mai. Chi si ritiene "deluso" da questa verità, chi si sente "tradito" dal Blog, è invitato a lasciarlo. Meglio soli che male accompagnati.
