Sri Lankan asylum seeker Kamalathasan Yogarajah has been jailed for sexually assaulting two students as they slept on an overnight National Express coach travelling from London to Liverpool.

The 42-year-old was drunk during the journey in April 2025 and had originally been sitting elsewhere on the coach. But after noticing the women were asleep, he moved closer to them and sexually assaulted both victims.

One woman woke to find Yogarajah touching her leg, with his hand close to the top of her boot and moving upwards. He stopped when she woke, but then sat opposite her and continued staring at her without expression, forcing her to move seats.

The second woman later woke to discover Yogarajah touching her sexually over her skirt. She told him to leave, but he refused and continued staring at her before eventually moving seats.

The women were effectively trapped with Yogarajah on the overnight coach until the journey ended. He was reported to the driver when the coach arrived in Liverpool city centre, and police attended and arrested him.

Yogarajah initially admitted that one of his hands had made physical contact with one of the women, but claimed it had been accidental because he was sleepy and changing his sleeping position. He later failed to attend his trial, leading to a warrant for his arrest, before ultimately admitting two counts of sexual assault and breaching court bail.

The court heard Yogarajah is from Sri Lanka and has no previous convictions in the UK, but police records revealed a pattern of domestic abuse and six safeguarding notifications already issued against him. A pre-sentence report assessed him as posing a high risk of harm to known adults, children and members of the public, while the judge said he had behaved in a “predatory fashion”.

Yogarajah was jailed for 28 months and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Despite being a Sri Lankan asylum seeker jailed for sexually assaulting two women, there was no mention during sentencing of any deportation proceedings or recommendation for his removal from the UK. Instead, the court heard he has the right to remain in Britain while his asylum appeal is considered.

Angela Rayner and her department have some serious questions to answer.

It has been revealed through FOI requests submitted by Shadow Justice Secretary Nick Timothy that the Communities Department deleted all responses submitted to the Working Group tasked by Rayner with drafting the official definition of Islamophobia — now repackaged as “anti-Muslim hostility”.

Nick has accused the department of a “cover-up” and wants to establish whether extremist groups influenced the process.

Since its publication, the definition has been used to silence legitimate criticism and debate about Islam. It has revived Britain’s blasphemy laws for Islam alone.

Public, private and charitable bodies have been encouraged to adopt the new non-statutory definition — with some, such as South Wales Police, going even further.

The Free Speech Union exposed at the start of the year that all five members of the Working Group had troubling links to Islamist organisations, including the Muslim Council of Britain and MEND — both of which successive governments have adopted a policy of non-engagement with since 2009 due to concerns about extremism.

Nick Timothy has said: “Labour must come clean on whether extremist groups helped to draft their ‘Islamophobia’ definition.

“Ministers have refused to answer whether these groups influenced the definition despite a no-contact policy, and we now know that the Government deleted every single response that the working group received.

“This is clearly a cover-up under way, and the public have a right to know whether a definition the Government is asking the entire public and private sector to adopt was influenced by the views of extremists.”

This is a truly astonishing admission. The Government introduced what amounts to a de facto Islamic blasphemy law in Britain, it could have been influenced by Islamist extremists, and it then deleted all the evidence submitted to the Working Group.

Questions must be answered.

5. Unleash North Sea oil/gas + slash energy bills by removing all green levies. New breed of gas-fired and smaller nuke generating stations.
Much more to suggest. But this should be good for starters.

Now consider the timeline.

It covers the 2015-2019 Conservative governments, the pandemic response, and the transition to Labour.

Multiple Cabinets.
Multiple Chancellors. Multiple foreign secretaries.

All of them operating a foreign aid and emergency lending apparatus that — by the government’s own secret reckoning — channelled tens of billions to Britain’s worst enemies.

None of the money recovered.
None of the recipients punished.

And the report — rather than triggering urgent cross-party accountability — was quietly buried.

The public paid for this report.

They paid for the £28 billion it documents.

They were then deliberately denied the right to know either existed.

If there is a cleaner definition of contempt for the electorate, it is hard to imagine.

There is a line between diplomacy and self-harm. Britain is about to cross it.

The revelation that China's proposed London "super-embassy" includes a concealed underground chamber built within a metre of the fibre-optic cables carrying the City of London's financial data should have ended the project instantly. No debate. No mitigation. No spin. A hard stop. Instead, Keir Starmer is expected to approve it anyway, just days before flying to Beijing to meet Xi Jinping. That decision would not be naïve. It would be knowing.

This is no longer about a routine embassy or even traditional espionage. The unredacted plans show a hidden underground complex of more than 200 rooms, one of them positioned directly alongside the cables that form the nervous system of Britain's economy. These fibres carry banking transactions, market data, corporate communications, and the everyday financial activity of millions of people. They link the City, Canary Wharf, the London Internet Exchange, and transatlantic routes to the United States. This is the bloodstream.

The chamber is not incidental. It is concealed. Its wall is to be demolished and rebuilt beside the cables. It is fitted with hot-air extraction systems consistent with heat-intensive computing. China fought to keep these details redacted from public view and only scrutiny by journalists has dragged them into the light. That alone tells you the truth. Benign infrastructure does not hide itself.

If this were Russia, the answer would already be no. If it were Iran, the suggestion would be laughed out of Whitehall. Yet because it is China, the Government reaches for euphemisms. "Mitigations." "Security assurances." "Normal diplomatic activity." These are words used when leaders want to avoid saying what they know to be obvious.

What is being offered here is not access to ministers or gossip from Westminster. It is something far more valuable. Economic intelligence. Market visibility. Data proximity. The ability to observe flows, model behaviour, and potentially disrupt systems in ways that never announce themselves as attacks. This is modern power. Quiet. Persistent. Deniable.

Approving this site would hand Beijing a permanent platform for economic leverage at the heart of Britain's financial infrastructure. Not after defeat. Not after coercion. Voluntarily, as a gesture of goodwill ahead of a diplomatic visit.

At that point, motive matters less than responsibility. Even if no cable is ever tapped, the act itself is the failure. A government that knowingly places hostile-state infrastructure beside its most sensitive economic arteries is no longer protecting the country. It is gambling with it.

This decision does not stand alone. It completes a pattern. The Royal Navy retreats from the Indo-Pacific. Britain gives up its strategic foothold in the Indian Ocean. And now China is invited to dig in beneath London itself. Britain is withdrawing from the world while allowing a rival power to embed at home.

Starmer will call this realism. It isn't. It is submission masquerading as competence. Realism knows that some risks are absolute, some sites are off-limits, and diplomacy does not require self-exposure. There was a time when Britain refused to bow even when China demanded ritual submission. Today there is no ceremony, no kowtow – just planning permission, poured concrete, and the quiet acceptance that economic sovereignty is negotiable.

This is the red line. Once built, it cannot be undone. Once access exists, it never truly closes. And once Britain signals that even its financial core is negotiable, no promise can restore what is lost. A state that cannot say no here is not practising diplomacy but surrendering leverage, and a country that trades its economic nervous system for smooth relations has already begun to live on borrowed time.
