@PTPintcast Mixed bag. Friends who are in residency see benefits.
I fear it speaks to a growing lack of organic mentorship & weaker clinical rotations.
I've worked w/ clinicians w/ a MPT or BA who have excellent clinical knowledge. (Granted 30 yrs in) How did they get there w/o residency?
@ryansheltonPT@BradkDPT 4) Which IMO is the best, the Private Practice Sig. This provides insights into what employers want & need from employees. If you reverse engineer that, you see how to provide value & then effectively communicate that. The resources are there, we need to utilize them effectively.
@ryansheltonPT@BradkDPT 2) Local State Sigs where you can build networking skills & leadership opportunities to further your raw skills. 3) The resume resource center which helps review & give feedback on your resume. That gets you in the door & helps to outline points you can highlight in an interview.
@BradkDPT@ryansheltonPT instead of encouraging them to take personal action and communicate their value. It also steals the joy from work. Instead of feeling accomplished that you are earning X amount because you negotiated that, you wonder if your male counterpart got more.
@BradkDPT@ryansheltonPT 2) We want to encourage women to step up & to educate themselves on marketing themselves. That starts w/ them and the ownece is on them, but it's discouraging if they keep hearing "oh I still won't get paid the same as men". That tells people it's not my fault it's this way...
@BradkDPT@ryansheltonPT As an antitdotal example I have also seen this most of the women in the clinic I work at work between 10-8 hrs less than the men on average, by their choice. Especially for the PTs that mean they generate significantly less revenue as our eval generates multiple visits after.
@DrSethPT Even just touch their body part for pain/ ROM. I especially have seen this with feet, I know it can be gross for people, but that's our job. The amount of pts that come in saying you are the first person to take off my brace baffles me.... we can't see anything with a brace on.
@BradkDPT@ryansheltonPT It's unproductive to tell women they are victims left and right it stunts growth both professionally and in regards to resilience
@BradkDPT@ryansheltonPT Absolutely! There are many factors considered in pay: reliability/ responsibilities as you mentioned + prior experience, need, qualities or certification you possess , & how you present all of these in an interview. A study has diff doing enough extrapolation to compare ๐ to ๐
