On Upfront on Joy News, I explained that reliable irrigation across the five northern regions is essential to delivering the NDC government’s 24-hour economy.
My mandate as National Youth Organizer of the NDC is to lead the political mobilization of as many eligible young Ghanaians as possible to secure a resounding victory for the NDC and its presidential candidate in the 2028 elections. My approach is to advance the economic empowerment of the NDC youth wing and young Ghanaians to strengthen our political mobilization efforts for 2028.
If 1.7 million young farmers across the five northern regions can farm throughout the year because we have addressed the irrigation challenge, we give them a concrete reason to support the NDC.
All-year-round farming in the northern regions will generate surplus output, providing a dependable supply of raw materials for processing centres in the north while supporting factories and maize mills across the middle and southern belts. This can help factories operate beyond eight hours and introduce additional shifts.
The longstanding raw-material supply challenges experienced by the Komenda Sugar Factory, the Pwalugu Tomato Factory and other processing factories demonstrate why this connection matters. All-year-round farming in the north can sustain all-year-round processing, jobs and incomes across Ghana.
Stayed tuned for the New Economy Budget to be presented by the Finance Minister in a few days!
