@mikage_eiji this is exactly what I was looking for, and it's a collector's edition at an amazing price!!!! I just preordered, looking forward to reading it again 🫡
@zobiwankenobii@linguinelabs@ron_mckenzie_ 1. Quicker to power. Also the option to connect to the grid later on
2. Ability to power communities when grids stop operating/malfunction
3. Site flexibility
4. No exposure to price volatility
5. Full reliability control over maintenance schedules etc
@zobiwankenobii@linguinelabs@ron_mckenzie_ simpler, yeah. But grid connections also have several year lead times as well. Off-grid solns would have a higher lcoc of around 1.5x-2x with renewables (but much cheaper with ng depending on cap). However, there are still benefits of off-grid:
@linguinelabs@ron_mckenzie_ especially if you consider wind + solar sources. Right now the big limits are of course things like the electrolyzer and fuel cell efficiencies etc, but there’s also the option to use blends or even just H2 in turbines originally built for ng power
@linguinelabs@ron_mckenzie_ towards plans with renewable sources, I.e. hydrogen power via H2 storage salt caverns or bedded formations. In some areas, I.e. salado salt formation, it is potentially possible to store up to 50 PWh of hydrogen, allowing for datacenters to be completely powered off grid,
@romanianbeam@f0nk3m0n@_bbctol@hankgreen If used in moderation I think retaining critical thinking shouldn’t be an issue, but I do share that worry with genAI — the future is quite unpredictable in regards to that at the moment. The boundary between traditional and generative AI is unfortunately(?) also becoming blurry
@trntmaplememe@f0nk3m0n@_bbctol@hankgreen Which book? Sorry I’m a bit confused. I’m just sharing my reasoning based on my own previous experiences between academia and industry in science, which of course may not apply to all concentrations (e.g. creative arts)
@f0nk3m0n@_bbctol@hankgreen Search engines such as Google (https://t.co/GDWhm5VrqA) already employ AI-assisted methodology into their system, with scholarly databases like Google scholar following suite with Labs. Unfortunately you will be left behind in areas of study that are constantly evolving and —
@stupidfroot@AuraHaver@swagmaster86753 I typically used to care less about lyrics in songs and more about the beat (and maybe still to an extent), but mother and blossom completely changed the way I indulged in music, still easily some of my favorite tracks to this day from lyrics/feeling alone
