pretentious doc from someone who has probably barely worked in game engines. This is more about art direction, not the capabilities of baked or in engine real time lighting, I assure you that most of the "short comings" are choices from Sonic Team.
@FabioRobo7223@TwanDaMegalodon Its also largely while I agree with all of your points, but its not really about the technicality, as a form of critique I find it very strange to suggest techniques that have been used for decades and are wildly known, it lessens it as piece to learn more
@FabioRobo7223@TwanDaMegalodon I think the problem is more how information is displayed as false or right all over the document, disregarding many subjective and directorial changes, my problem with the lightning section and most of the doc is that its never explored โwhyโ some choices or changes were made
@FabioRobo7223 agreed yea, ofc we don't know but like for a game like crossworlds not using baked lighting is insane... such a non brainer. I still think most of it is up to their choices, which I dont think are great, the visuals for the sonic games have been lacking for a long time
@FabioRobo7223 I dont really think Crossworlds lighting looks good and I think the problem is more of how they chose to utilize the engine and how they use the techniques rather than just implementing them, alot of the issues, couldve been handled with better post process too
@FabioRobo7223 Thats my point. Art Direction is all about the choices you make and how you get to a desired look, also I am very sure that the developers are very aware of GUI,Vertex Coloring and Baked Lights, Crossworld 100% has Baked Lighting, you still need good art direction
