I’m frustrated this morning.
I’m hurt.
Last night I made a post about @jamestalarico and how the way he speaks, the way he explains things, and the way he talks about love and people has stirred something in me.
Something real.
Something I have not felt in a long time.
It made me feel like my heart was moving a little closer toward God.
Then the comments came.
This morning I woke up to even more.
If you could see some of the direct messages I’ve received…
It’s sad. Truly sad.
People calling me a communist.
People telling me I’m wrong.
People acting like my step toward faith only counts if it fits inside their beliefs, their politics, and their box.
It’s not non believers doing this.
It’s religious people.
I have not seen a single message telling me to stay away from God.
What I have seen are people telling me how I have to come to God if I want to be accepted.
I was just being honest about what I was feeling.
I said I felt like I had moved a little closer.
Closer…
Somehow even that did not feel acceptable.
Instead of encouragement, I feel judged.
Instead of grace, I feel corrected.
Instead of being pulled closer, I feel pushed back.
If someone says they feel a little closer to God, why would that not be met with kindness?
Jesus is not a Democrat.
Jesus is not a Republican.
What keeps speaking to my heart is simple.
➡️ Love thy neighbor ⬅️
Some of you think you are defending faith.
But what it feels like on this side is that you are pushing someone away who was taking a small step closer…
That is where I am this morning.
Frustrated.
AGAIN @PattyMurray asked unanimous consent to fund FEMA, TSA, our cyber defense agency, and the Coast Guard.
AGAIN Republicans blocked her.
Republicans are showing where they stand—and it’s not with the American people.
It’s important that you understand what happened last night.
Last night, Stephen Colbert interviewed Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, a candidate who, by all accounts, is on track in the polls to flip Texas blue.
In response, Trump’s FCC reportedly threatened CBS if the interview aired.
CBS caved and pulled the segment, citing “financial reasons.”
In modern American history, no president has been more hostile to free speech than Donald Trump.
But censorship always backfires.
Here’s the full segment Trump didn’t want you to see.
UPDATE—Father protests after ICE raid elementary bus stop.
"I've never protested before in my entire life," he says emotional.
"But then I watched 4th and 5th grade kids run away from their own government."
"I never want to see a child run away from our own government again."
BREAKING: on this Super Bowl Sunday, Epstein Survivors have just released this PSA:
“Stand with us. Tell Attorney General Pam Bondi IT’S TIME FOR THE TRUTH”
Please share everywhere!
I don’t care who this offends. No politician should have better healthcare than a combat veteran. If you risked your life for this country and still get less, the system isn’t broken it’s fucking rigged.
BREAKING: Music legend Bruce Springsteen just released this incredible song that will be sure to piss Trump off beyond belief.
“Streets of Minneapolis”.
He wrote this song about Alex Pretti and Renée Good Saturday and recorded it yesterday.
Share it far and wide and play it as loud as you can
I have looked at this child's photo probably 100 times over the last week, and each time, my heart sticks in my throat. His little hat with the ears and the pompoms. His face - trying so hard not to cry, when he must be so scared. There are monsters among us.
To the x bots bashing my poem for its format to avoid the relevancy of its content: the verse shape is inspired by Minneapolis itself. Stop griping over the structure of a poem and funnel that critical energy towards the federal agents executing American citizens.
Remember this: A government willing to kill someone because they're videotaping what the government does ... is a government who knows what they are doing is wrong, and believes that holding them accountable is worthy of execution.
That's not democracy. That is tyranny.
