BREAKING: Biden's Defense Secretary Loyd Austin takes a powerful stand after Donald Trump's new nominee for the job says that woman shouldn't serve in combat roles.

"I have spent 41 years in uniform, three long tours in Iraq, one in Afghanistan, and everywhere I went on a battlefield, there were women in our formation," said Austin.

"I would tell you that, you know, our women are the finest troops in the world. Quite frankly, some of the finest in the world," he continued.

Donald Trump's pick for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has decried the supposed "wokeness" in the military and attacked the idea of women serving—

"I’m straight up just saying that we should not have women in combat roles,” Hegseth said on The Shawn Ryan Show podcast. "It hasn’t made us more effective, hasn’t made us more lethal, has made fighting more complicated.”

"We’ve all served with women, and they’re great. But our institutions don’t have to incentivize that in places where, traditionally, not traditionally, over human history, men in those positions are more capable," he added.

This outlook is in perfect alignment with the misogynist MAGA worldview that propelled Trump to victory this past election.

During his interview with NBC News, Austin dismantled Hegseth's ideas without name-dropping him.

"They do impact readiness. They make us better," said Austin. "They make us stronger. And again, what I’ve seen from our women is quite incredible, and I’m not, this is not hyperbole. This is fact."

He added that he will "not speculate on what will happen in the future" but said that the military will remain diverse.

"We’re a diverse nation, and we’re going to remain a diverse nation. Our military is going to remain a diverse military," said Austin.
