BREAKING: Justice Clarence Thomas pens a scathing dissent after the Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship.
Thomas accuses the majority of “repurposing” the 14th Amendment “to protect its own set of preferred rights that the Reconstruction Congress never contemplated and that cannot find support in its text.”
“Today, the Court does so again by recognizing a constitutional right to citizenship for the children of all foreign birth tourists and illegal aliens.”
“I am not sure that today’s opinion will stand the test of time. The Citizenship Clause ‘added greatly to the dignity and glory of American citizenship.’ Today’s opinion devalues that citizenship.”
“I respectfully dissent.”
I am introducing a Constitutional Amendment to end Birthright Citizenship.
Under current interpretations of American law, anyone born on American soil automatically becomes a U.S. citizen, regardless of whether the parent was here legally or not. This is wrong and not at all the intent of those who wrote the 14th Amendment.
We are a country filled with immigrants, and legal immigration is valuable and should be protected. But we are also a country whose borders have been too open and our generosity exploited too often. President Trump has moved to seal our border from illegal immigrants more than any other president.
But we will have more to do.
We need to make sure that only children born to legal residents of the U.S. are automatically citizens. I have supported protecting birthright citizenship from abuse since the beginning of my tenure in the Senate, when I cosponsored the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2011, and now I am proposing an amendment to protect United States citizenship in case the Supreme Court fails to address this issue correctly.
My response whenever some sweet progressive weeper wants me to join in a land acknowledgement is to demur, saying (after puting a look of deep moral concern on my face) that I would first want to know whether the tribe involved practiced slavery. Since nearly all of them did, this usually gets me off the hook.
Cheating in elections has always been in the absentee ballot. In the 1950s, a member of FDR's cabinet got caught stuffing 500 absentee ballots in Kentucky. That was the only way to cheat because in-person voting is hard to rig. Now we mail ballots to everyone unsolicited, nobody watches them get signed, and we make it legal to collect 10,000 at once. We built the vulnerability ourselves.
The SAVE America Act is the right fight at the federal level, but I refuse to give up at the state level either.
"The FBI calls him the #2 guy in Minnesota's largest-ever fraud scheme...he is behind bars thousands of miles away."
"It shows that the long arm of American law reaches all around the globe—that even in Somalia, you can't escape the FBI."

Justice Clarence Thomas is one of the greatest justices to ever serve on the Supreme Court.
Justice Thomas is unwavering in his principles and steadfast in his commitment to upholding the Constitution, even in the moments when he was in the minority on issues that came before the Court.
“Since joining the Court in 1991, Thomas has pulled the Court’s jurisprudence back to the Constitution’s original meaning and steered the Court itself back to its proper role. At the start of his tenure, Thomas laid out a jurisprudence that started with lone dissents, but over time, he has swayed the Court in his direction. Those principled dissents became concurrences and are now majority opinions.” - @MarkPaoletta

The Trump administration is constructing five miles of new border-barrier infrastructure every week, according to CBP. At this pace, the planned wall system would be completed by the end of Trump’s term.
The “Smart Wall” system includes new and secondary wall segments, steel bollards, surveillance technology, sensors, cameras, lighting, access roads, and river buoys.
