I've lived and worked in downtown St. Catharines for 20 years and on my evening run, the core was so empty and still, it was eerie. The silent sights downtown speak volumes of life in a pandemic.
@CatharinesSt Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The safety of our visitors is one of our top priorities. We've passed this feedback along to the appropriate team to be looked into. ^MA
Hey @TD_Canada it would be wonderful if we could do our banking at the St. Catharines Queen St. location without having to step over homeless people sleeping by the ATM’s. It’s unsafe!! Given the fees TD charges I’m sure security is within budget! This occurs daily! #ourhomestc
Nothings says, “Welcome to St. Catharines” like being harassed and yelled at by “homeless” people. Can’t get off the QEW without being screamed at. #compassionatecity#mentalhealth@chris_bittle
What’s going on at Niagara and Church? Homeless people now hit cars if you don’t give them money! This city needs to be cleaned up! #stcatharines#ourhomestc#cleanupthestreets
Why can’t we mirror the ideas, systems and processes used in Portugal for drug rehabilitation? Come on, Canada! https://t.co/efSih5Y7ZI cc: @JustinTrudeau#onpoli#cdnpoli#stcatharines

@CatharinesSt We have no details about the shooting and how things are related.
However, looking forward to our gun control legislation passing as quickly as possible when the House returns. Furthermore we've made historic investments in mental health with the Province of Ontario.
Agreed; however, NOW is the time to consider not only gun control measures, but caring for addiction and mental health problems. Drugs played a role in today’s events.
Dear Canada: Today’s incident no way reflects our great city. The City of St. Catharines is one of the best places to live in our country. #StCShooting
