My review of #RingsOfPower Season 2 is now available on @ImaginAtlas! I obviously could not cover everything I wanted to say, and certainly, there are some details I liked that I did not mention here, but this summarizes my overall opinion of RoP so far.

@Mercuryreads This reminds me of their response to the controversy surrounding dwarf-women and beards. McKay and Payne were like “but Disa does have a beard!” - never mind that it’s barely visible and definitely not what fans had in mind. They did the bare minimum and called it a day.
@Mercuryreads Their response is SO infuriating! Not only does the relationship clearly read as queer, but many fans are also deeply attached to that idea, and that alone should be reason enough for them to treat this with more care and respect.
It was epic! But I still think it came much too soon. We only got a short look at the Doors of Durin (and in an odd setting), and then we never get to see them open before the Siege of Eregion, after which they were closed. And now the Balrog has awoken already??

The attention given to the knowledge and historical records lost as a result of the Fall of Eregion is such a good detail in the #RingsofPower season finale 📜📚
We are excited to announce our speaker list and open registration for the Christopher Tolkien Centenary Conference. Find out more and join us for this very special event.

This! I was blown away by Splintered Light when I first read it, as I am by every piece of scholarship written by Flieger. She absolutely deserves more recognition!
Verlyn Flieger appreciation post:
She is a remarkable and brilliant scholar and our field owes her so much!
She is certainly on par with Shippey, but does not receive nearly as much public recognition.
What is your favorite work by Verlyn (Book, article, edited volume)?
On 12 September "The Collected Poems of J.R.R. #Tolkien" will be released. Spread across three volumes and 1600 pages, the collection is edited by Christina Scull and Wayne G. Hammond and features nearly 250 poems, of which 70 have never been seen before.
