Fun fact— if you have Irish and/or Italian roots, your family was once the target and blamed for crime, poverty, and “ruining America.” This is recycled bigotry with a new accent.
@AnnCoulter@AnnCoulter How many dead Indians would satisfy you? Are the tens of millions your ancestors killed not enough? For hundreds of years your people have tried to exterminate us, and for hundreds of years you have FAILED #stillhere ✊🏽

A few days late starting this, but in honor of #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth I’ll try to post every day some of my favorite books written by native authors. This first one honors two of my favorite Cherokees— “Ned Christie, Cherokee Warrior” written by the late Roy Hamilton.
One of my favorite places to visit. Not trying to start a Ross Party/Treaty Party debate, but no one can deny that this site represents a major turning point in Cherokee history.

Millions watching the #Emmys got to see the co-creator and cast of @RezDogsFXonHulu presenting live on CBS Sunday.
Indigenous representation is long overdue in Hollywood. It’s important for wide audiences to see Native talent spotlighted on TV. 📺

710 Indigenous people, mostly girls, were reported missing over the past decade in Wyoming, the same state where Gabby Petito reportedly disappeared. https://t.co/6nkPUvy9Zf
The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals on Sept. 16 again ruled that Oklahoma has no concurrent jurisdiction over crimes committed on tribal lands by non-American Indians against American Indians. https://t.co/LYNtYOpjHX
A Missouri cave containing Native artwork from more than 1,000 years ago was sold at auction on Tue. The bidder paid $2.2 million from private owners for what's known as "Picture Cave.” In a statement the Osage Nation called the sale "truly heartbreaking."

@pollysgdaughter That’s not even a “recognition.” All the state of Texas was doing is acknowledging that there were Cherokees living in TX that LEFT their nation, the Cherokee Nation, and settled in TX. As it also explains, many RETURNED to their nation, the Cherokee Nation, in Indian Territory.
The west wasn’t won, @VVFriedman. It was stolen. Millions of Indigenous men, women, and children died as a result of racist, greedy white men who desired wealth above all. How ironic your tweet truly is…

Congrats to @VannMarilyn on her appointment to our Environmental Protection Commission! She becomes the first Cherokee citizen of freedmen descent to serve in a Cherokee Nation government post in our modern history.
History making day in @CherokeeNation as Marilyn Vann becomes the first Cherokee citizen of #Freedmen descent to hold a gov’t appointment. The Council confirm my nomination of her to our Environmental Protection Commission. Highly qualified trail blazer. #equality@VannMarilyn
