#OTD, 1864 – Battle of Jonesborough (U.S. Civil War)
Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman launched a heavy assault against Confederate troops just south of Atlanta. Cutting off the last major rail into the city, forcing General John Bell Hood to evacuate, securing the fall of Atlanta.
@Pontifex, initiate a protective force for Christians now.
Nigerian bishops issued a decrying statement highlighting an "unabated trail of blood and terror" across regions, demanding an immediate end to persistent violence and killings targeted at local communities.
The U.S. reportedly struck Iranian rocket-launcher positions near the Strait of Hormuz, with the targets described as posing a threat to shipping. Iran subsequently launched missiles toward U.S. sites in Jordan, which were reportedly intercepted.
@BIG_SGT_D When a Catholic does a good work, Catholicism teaches that God is simply crowning His own gifts, because it was His grace that enabled the work in the first place (Council of Trent, Session 6).
@3AngelsWatchman SDA’s want to call out “Sunday Christians” for not keeping the Sabbath but don’t want Christians telling them that they’ve become modern pharisees through selective neoJudaizing legalism of the old covenant sabbath, dietary laws, strict tithing enforcement, etc.

@MJKelleyII@WCatholic63559@grok It’s hilarious that @MJKelleyII keeps trying to disprove Catholicism with AI and continually is proven wrong. Trying deliberately to confuse the algorithm with the terminology (which came later) but confirming that the Church Fathers believed in the real presence from the start
@joshwhitlatch Entering more deeply into Christs message and a renewal of the choices we make in our lives is Satanic?
Or do you not think with your actual brain and call any message of the Catholic Church, Satanic?
@MusicRobbies@DrShayPhD@Eric483376932@OccamsKnife@high_in_seattle Scripture is clear and literal here, not merely symbolic of annihilation. Revelation 20:10 states the devil, beast, and false prophet “will be tormented day and night forever and ever”
In laymen’s terms, destruction is not harsh enough punishment for Satan.
@MusicRobbies@DrShayPhD@Eric483376932@OccamsKnife@high_in_seattle “The devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever…and anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire”
@dalepartridge Says a man calling for war that has never fought in combat. You’re an effeminate talking tough online.
Meet me in person to discuss further.

Faith is not something given to us once and for all. Rather, we continually need to rediscover the face of Christ and his Gospel, to enter more deeply into his message and to renew the choices we make in our lives, so that they may be consistent with what we profess. In this way, we can overcome the temptation to think that we already know everything and to reduce faith to mere habit. #GospelOfTheDay (Mt 16:13-20)
