For nothing more glorious, nothing nobler, nothing surely more honorable can be imagined than to belong to the One, Holy Catholic, Apostolic and Roman Church - Pope Pius XII, Encyclical Mystici Corporis Christi, no. 91
Let us pray for Monste Alvarado as she starts her new and difficult job. She has already made a great start and will be a big improvement on her predecessor.
Monste Alvarado, new prefect of Vatican's Dicastery for Communication, greets journalists in 4 languages today during a briefing on the papal trip to South America. Starts with Spanish (she was born in Mexico City), says she learns Italian and asks for patience, then moves on to say in English you don't have to be sorry to be an American anymore in the Vatican, and at the end greets French journalists in a language she also speaks fluently.
Much dishonesty in this disloyal attack by Bishop Bätzing on Pope Leo - Pretty disgusting attempt to instrumentalise abuse victims.
Bätzing's scientific findings & structural factors are code for Leo not accepting the Synodal Way's ideological nostrums.

The St Mary case at the Supreme Court hasn’t appeared in the pages of The Pillar much because of my obvious conflict of interest: St Mary is my parish, 2/3 of my kids go to the school.
So here’s my non-reporter read on it:
George Bätzing, Bishop of Limburg, publishes an article on his Diocesan website attacking Pope Leo XIV on his comments on sexual abuse in the Church:
“I was all the more disturbed by statements from Pope Leo XIV. On his return flight from France, he refused to agree with the statement by victims that he had acknowledged the systemic nature of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. He preferred a different formulation, the Pope said. In his conversation with victims in Lourdes, he had spoken of certain organizations within the Church that had sometimes acted abusively as a system. At the same time, he declared: "Sexual abuse is first and foremost a human problem."”

The Pope’s Prayer intention for the month of November is to pray for a just use of wealth:
“Lord of Life, ll we have comes from you. The fertile land, the talents we've received, the effort of those who came before us.
Nothing is ours alone. Everything is a shared gift. But so often, Lord, we let the wealth we seek or attain harden our hearts, lock us in selfishness, make us forget the most vulnerable.
Forgive us for storing up instead of sharing, for using goods as power, rather than as service.
You remind us that true wealth is not found in what we keep, but in what we give to love, a heart detached from possessions, transforms the world.
It opens paths of justice, tears down walls of indifference, and sows hope among the poor.
We ask you, Lord, that your Spirit teach us to use what we have, money, time, talents, opportunities, as instruments of fraternity.
They each economic, family, or community decision spring from a free heart, able to recognise that every good is meant for all. And that only by sharing we build the future.
Make us witnesses of a wealth transformed into service and mercy. So that our lives, united to the lives of others, may be a sign of your kingdom, of justice and peace.
Amen.”
@Busybee32433175 Men with homosexual tendencies are prohibited from being admitted to seminary. That is the system. The problem isn’t the system, the problem is the previous lax enforcement. Benedict and Francis did much in this regard.
The Pope is not downplaying it, there were failures in the system that let these monsters in but they weren’t systemic failures. There were systemic failures in the handling of it, but those have been corrected and is separate from what the Pope was addressing. Bätzing is using abuse victims for his own ends to forward the Synodal Weg. Pretty despicable.
“Christ Himself certainly did not live a life free from storms, nor does He promise us one. Yet no darkness or suffering is stronger than his love. He will never abandon you.”

@CatholicAtlanta Nothing wrong per se, but it’s the latest in a cumulative line of interjections of Mormon theology into the show; no baptism in the Jordan, no Holy Spirit, no Transfiguration, now Native American angels.
An anti-Catholic attack has occurred at St. Alban’s Church, Warrington.
A historic war memorial depicting Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has been vandalised.
The head of Christ was decapitated and graffiti sprayed onto the monument desecrating the names of those who gave their lives in World Wars I and II.
This is a disgraceful act.
It is an insult to God, our glorious dead, and to our faith.
We must return once again to an explicitly Christian government, where the consequences of such egregious acts of blasphemy are dealt with accordingly.
We will not tolerate the desecration of our faith.
