New #Ebola case in Beni, DR Congo is not a new spillover. Great work by @PlacideMbala, @labgenpath, @Inrb_goma, and others showed the new case is linked to the 2018-2020 Nord Kivu outbreak.

When I got COVID a few weeks ago, I wanted to know how far out to cancel my plans.
1. how long would it take to be rapid-test negative?
2. if I was still rapid-positive at 10 days, was I likely to be infectious?
This human challenge study (!) was very useful...

The @labgenpath of @inrb_kinshasa received on March 21, a team of biologists, bioinformaticians and virologists from Imperial college of London, UNMC and National Institute for Biological Standards and Control for 10 days of work on various issues around the new polio vaccine.
@tnicholsmd My doctor did Test1 and Test2 on me, despite me not needing Test1 in his medical opinion.
Why?
Because the insurer wouldn't pay for Test2 if the doctor hadn't already done Test1.

👉Unclear whether failure to clear the virus and subsequent relapse was caused by vaccine failure, monoclonal treatment, or an immune deficiency.
👉Very rare - but underlines the need for follow up health care for #ebola survivors
👉Did relapse cause the #Guinea ebola resurgence?
Our case report is published! A #DRCongo#ebola survivor relapsed 6 mths after his first infection and died. Infection spread to 91 others before being controlled.
