Afternoon tea for 7 was the brief for today’s empowering Soul in a Bowl session
Dave’s Coronation Chicken Sandwiches, Pav‘s sausage rolls, Barry‘s Quiche, Nick’s Scotch Eggs, Donna’s Tuna vol-au-vents, Tommy’s Scones, Donna‘s Mini Victoria Sponges & Mark‘s Raspberry Pavlovas.
Our fabulous SOUL IN A BOWL cookbooks are now available to purchase at Share Chester - ShareShop - only £5 - and all proceeds go towards providing more Soul in a Bowl empowering cookery sessions for those who are homeless
Pictures dont lie - the pure joy on the faces of our SIAB Thursday group as they worked brilliantly to produce a delicious summery meal, bruschetta, leek & bacon tart, cucumber salad, french bean & walnut salad, homemade mayonnaise and a strawberry & blueberry griestorte!
A very busy session managed brilliantly by our team of volunteers!

Every Wednesday our team of volunteers cook free breakfasts at the Westminster Community Centre in Ellesmere Port - this week the team got their new aprons 😊
2 empowerment sessions today - both incredibly well attended & both producing fabulous food!
The teams made homemade beefburger with burger sauce & caramelised onions. Spicy BBQ chicken thighs, tabouleh & coleslaw. Summer fruit salad with citrus, honey dressing and ice cream.
Thanks to our fabulous team - football ⚽️ fans at the two hostels in Chester will be treated to pizza and cake whilst watching the game against Mexico!
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Comparitec Golf Day. Despite the scorching sunshine and soaring temperatures, players raised an incredible £870.
We’re incredibly grateful to Alex Hodges who organised the event and to Comparitec for choosing to support us.
Thanks to The Cook Shop in Hoole for their donation of Beef Bourgignon pie & to our volunteer Sophie for a delicious beef and rice dish. Desserts were provided by Claudia and Pat.

Empowerment - Self Esteem - SO important for moving forwards with your life. That is what our Soul in a Bowl project is all about. Two sessions today and both smashed it!
A HUGE THANK YOU to Nelstrops - Family Flour Millers who not only donated a sack of flour to our Second Bite team, but also funded our purchase of a large portable flour bin to store it in! 😊
We would like to say a HUGE Thank You to our ‘behind the scenes’ volunteers who collect and deliver items to help support people moving into a new home or accommodation- they don’t have their photos taken but they do all the ‘grunt’ work!!

Busy Soul in a Bowl session today, Chicken Shawarma, flatbreads, Mediterranean salad, roasted spiced potatoes , Portuguese custard tarts & Dave was rather proud of his Snickerdoodles!🍪. Another attendee successfully completed his Level 2 Food Hygiene - A Thursday very well spent
A BIG Thank You to Global Adventure Challenges for their orders for our ‘shortbread with soul’. After a trial last year, our Second Bite team will be producing shortbread biscuits for GAC’s events throughout the summer!

Two fabulous Soul in a Bowl sessions today- one of the recipes was Lemon Drizzle Cake from our ‘Cooking with Soul’ cookbook - available to purchase for £5 plus £2.65 p&p
