Last week CATR hosted a House of Commons roundtable to discuss the report ”Anchoring Stability in Somalia: Sovereignty, Investment, and Trilateral Security Cooperation in a Changing Geopolitical Landscape.“
The report explores how strengthening Somali sovereignty, transitioning from aid dependency to investment-led growth, and deepening cooperation between Somalia, the UK, and Türkiye can advance long-term stability, security, and economic resilience in one of the world's most strategically important regions.
Meet our wonderful contributors and their insights on the report.
How can the UK and Türkiye work together to support Somalia’s future?
That was the focus of our parliamentary roundtable at the House of Commons, bringing together ambassadors, MPs, policymakers and experts.
Delighted to see the discussion featured by @aysu_bicer@anadoluagency

Beyond the @NATO Summit lies a side of Ankara that many visitors never get to see.
CATR Fellow @ragipsoylu has put together a guide for @MiddleEastEye highlighting some of the best places to eat, drink and explore across the Turkish capital.
Looking to step away from the @NATO summit for a few hours in the week ahead??
For CATR, @ussal, @gcinkara and @aysu_bicer each picked one local favourite in Ankara 🇹🇷

We wish Ambassador-designate Anderson every success as she takes up her post in August 2026 and look forward to the continued strengthening of the longstanding partnership between the United Kingdom and Türkiye.
Congratulations and best wishes for a successful tenure.
Assoc. Prof. @gcinkara argues that the Ankara Summit will have to map the Alliance’s trajectory across a far more diffuse threat landscape — from Russia and China to AI and European defence.
🇹🇷 What to Watch at the 2026 @NATO Summit?
From defence investment and industrial capacity to Ukraine and Alliance cohesion, the Ankara Summit will shape NATO's strategic agenda for the years ahead.
Here's what Amb. @FATHCEYLAN8, former Turkish Permanent Representative to NATO, believes will define the Summit's success.
From Istanbul 2004 to Ankara 2026.
Twenty-two years after the Istanbul Summit, @NATO returns to Türkiye. The agenda has changed. The debates haven't entirely.
While the Alliance's priorities have shifted—from enlargement and Iraq to deterrence, defence industrial capacity and emerging technologies—many of the underlying debates remain familiar. So does Türkiye's strategic importance to the Alliance.
“Bayraktar is resetting long-established principles.”
That is how @NATO Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe Air Chief Marshal John Stringer describes the transformation taking place in defence innovation.
In his interview with CATR Fellow @aysu_bicer for Anadolu Agency, Stringer also stresses that Türkiye remains “massively important to the alliance” and calls for more open, adaptable defence architectures across NATO.
Heading to Ankara for the @NATO Summit?
Beyond the official programme, the city will host a series of side events bringing together diplomats, security experts, think tanks and transatlantic leaders.
Two worth keeping on your radar:
• NATO Summit Dialogues (@atlantikkonseyi) — 6–7 July
• Allies in Ankara (@setavakfi × @MunSecConf) — 7–8 July
See you in Ankara.
