@Grizzly1113@CoachSwit@Bomber_baseKHS Travel roster 12, HS roster 20-24. You mean kids have to work for playing time, it’s not just given to you because you found a team to play on where everyone plays
@leviathan35711@CoachSwit Totally disagree! In HS baseball you are practicing every day, focusing on fundamentals getting consistent reps on the daily. In Tavel you may “practice” once a week but play 3-5 games in 2 days. Way more emphasis on development in HS
You can still play multiple sports in high school and go on to play college baseball. If a coach says year-round baseball is the only path, find a new travel team.
When a college coach is recruiting one of our guys they've never asked me, "How many games/tournaments have you won this year?"
I've also never had a coach ask, "How many games did they win at 11u?" Or "What was his average at 13u?"
Stop prioritizing wins above development. If each player is developed the correct way they will win their own game.
Winning is important but it isn't the end all be all. The coach should be trying to win the development of each player.
Never forget, the player that's the best at 12 is rarely the best at 17. Win the long game. 👊🏼
@Frank_Cusumano Roberts represented a big part of the offense. There’s enough touches especially with him in the passing game. This would be a hugh signing moving forward
@dgoold How embarrassing that the smaller market Royals are out spending the Cardinals. When even with a down turn in attendance still outdraw them. This is a major reason Cardinals fans are frustrated and turning away!

I use the framework of asking 1 of 2 questions:
1. What did you see?
2. What were you supposed to do?
Let them answer
If they don’t know = teach them
If they won’t do = find new avenue
Being a high school multi-sport athlete should be encouraged, not discouraged. As a varsity coach, I support players competing in other sports. The problem isn’t multi-sport participation—it’s coaches expecting year-round priority. That’s control, not development.
@PowerMizzoucom To me, this is Gates biggest weakness. At times his rotations make absolutely no sense. There’s no consistency, and no clear roles other than a couple of his favorites who never come off the floor. He’s Drink 2.0, can recruit like crazy but game management just isn’t there.
@SleeperSTL Truth is he’s not good at bullpen management, terrible at constructing a consistent lineup that fits the players, and his teams play with no fire
@whitenerjeffrey The landscape of HS sports is changing and I think you’re going to see more and more of this across multiple sports in smaller schools in the years to come
