@GGunthorp@ckleene Nearly every cow is calved outside. Wouldn’t disease be less if given 160 acres and an A frame?
Scale could be massive, but not going to happen.
How many owners birth their own calf compared to owners birth their own pigs.
@ckleene@GGunthorp How do we know? It isn’t done at scale. Would hardier breeds bring better meat quality. Obviously less pork on the market would be positive for prices.
@ckleene@GGunthorp Pork needs to distance itself from chicken and add marbling and eating experience like beef. The pork industry needs to take a chapter on value marketing like the beef guys did 25-30 years ago.
@jwilgenburg1@laurenpayne2012 If adoption is near 80-90% and the dairy cow herd is flat (250k expansion is 2.5 days kill) then how will it effect live prices going forward?
@jwilgenburg1@laurenpayne2012 Are dairy guys keeping their cows longer so they don’t have to replace with hfrs as fast considering the bull calves value?
What % of dairies are using sexed semen with beef genetics?
Thankyou. I’m learning.
