BREAKING: Trump throws in the towel on targeting Dr. Fauci by announcing that he will "respect" President Biden's pardon of him — enraging his supporters in the process.

And one suspicious comment REALLY jumped out here...

"Do you think that the DOJ should reopen the investigation into the autopen, specifically pertaining to Fauci?" a reporter asked Trump in the Oval Office.

The autopen conspiracy theory is a perennial fixture of the fetid right-wing media sphere. They pretend as if Biden was so incapacitated during his tenure that everything was signed by autopen, supposedly invalidating his presidency. Never mind the fact that Trump is now suffering from obvious dementia and admitted that he doesn't read his own pardons.

"Well, the only thing you can really think about is the autopen because uh... The most powerful thing the President has, they say, is the power of pardon," Trump replied to the so-called journalist. "So uh... He was pardoned by Biden and I— I— I respect that. I— I know how powerful it is. It's a very powerful... Uh... They say it's literally the most powerful thing a President has."

The comments went over like a lead balloon with the MAGA base who want Fauci prosecuted and imprisoned for his imagined crimes. They've convinced themselves that he is some supremely evil being who misled the world about COVID-19 because admitting the truth — that the pandemic killed over a million Americans due to Trump's profound incompetence — would shatter their illusions about their cult leader.

Meanwhile, Trump is terrified of challenging the sanctity of Biden's pardon of Fauci (a decision that looks increasingly wise with each passing day) because he knows it would open his own pardons up to overturning under a future Democratic administration.

And Trump desperately needs his pardons to hold. He has given clemency to numerous close allies and an endless parade of MAGA-connected fraudsters and many commentators predict that he will pardon himself, his family, and most of his Cabinet before he leaves office. This second term has been one long crime spree of historic proportions. Once Democrats retake control, we'll get a full sense of the enormity of the theft and corruption, and Trump is relying on his pardon power to shield his regime from the consequences.

These two brain-dead, chest-thumping morons have completely destroyed the Pentagon's finances in record time. While that Fox News meathead Hegseth was on television lying his ass off about our "great and only getting stronger" stockpiles, the military has been bleeding money like a stuck pig to fund Trump's ego-driven disaster in Iran.

Training? Canceled.
Maintenance? Cannibalized and looted.
Readiness? Fucked beyond recognition.

Eighteen American troops are dead and hundreds more are injured, the ceasefire is in shambles, the Navy and Air Force are about to run out of money by the end of the month, and these clowns are crawling to Congress on their hands and knees begging for $67 billion more — while the House takes a month-long vacation.

Hegseth — the unqualified hack — dismisses every warning like the arrogant dipshit he is, even as Pentagon officials are privately losing their minds over depleted munitions we desperately need against Russia and China.

This is what happens when a reality TV con man and a cable news warrior wannabe are handed the world’s most powerful military. They treat it like their personal toy, blow through resources like drunk sailors, get 18 Americans killed and hundreds wounded, and then act shocked when the bills come due.

Trump and Hegseth aren't leaders — they're reckless, incompetent, warmongering parasites sucking the Pentagon dry for their own pathetic fantasies of strength.

The American military — and the families of those 18 dead and hundreds injured troops — deserve far better than these two frauds.
