“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Luke 10:27
@GuntherCatz@TradAdvocate Correction: Roman Catholic Church doesn’t allow divorce, even for infidelity (to them, Mt 19:9 means a type of obscure illegal marriage only).
For other ancient churches (Orthodox, Coptic), Mt 19:9 is interpreted to allow divorce if either the man or woman is unfaithful.
@aimeeterese The problem with #MeToo is that it enabled the man-hating misandrists who used it to claim every man (or 60% as I saw on a post today) is a rapist.
@aimeeterese@_angara__ I block on site trolls who call it “rape” to have sex when entirely not in the mood. And, yes, withholding sex in marriage can very well be a form of manipulation and abuse.
@kenzietuff I went to https://t.co/1qhil75kzs and blocked everyone who used the word “rape” or otherwise piled on the person for saying it’s OK to have sex even when not entirely in the mood.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
@kenzietuff You didn’t miss much. It’s the usual “sex when you’re not 100% in the mood is rape” tripe. Those people haven’t been in successful lifetime marriages.
I, on the other hand, have been in a successful lifetime marriage.
And yes, we had sex even when one person wasn’t in the mood.
@bellisaurius@Cash_Nicholson Correct. A man with ED can not consummate a marriage, and therefore cannot legitimately receive the sacrament of marriage.
@aimeeterese If sex with someone you chose to marry is ever an ordeal, that indicates some pretty serious trauma which needs to be treated.
I had a lot of sex with my first wife when I didn’t want it. It was a chore, yes, but I would hardly call it an “ordeal”. It kept us together, in fact.
@davidgaw@StarWarsSession They did: “Heir to the Empire” (VII), “Dark Force Rising” (VIII), and “The Last Command” (IX). Only as books, mind you, but AI will be able to make them proper movies soon enough.
@StarWarsSession Well, for me, Episodes 4-6 are canon, Zahn’s Thrawn trilogy is canon, Episodes 1-3 are unreliable memories, and Episodes 7+ (Exception: Rogue One) are just Luke having a bad dream.
@ScriptTrooper@Angrily_Upset A backup hyperdrive (and my explanation is simpler: FTL standard drive) is like a spare tire. You need a couple of hours to bring it online.
@FirstAngelus@ScriptTrooper The Falcon’s regular drive could do Faster-Than-Light, just not as fast as hyperdrive. That seems to be the world view the writers had in Empire (or maybe they didn’t think how long star travel is w/o FTL).
@richard_normal In the novelization of “Empire”, which yes came out before the movie (so those of us who read the book knew about Vader being Luke’s father before the movie was even released), it’s clear Leia is force sensitive because she hears Luke’s call for help at the bottom of Cloud City.
@The_Kyle_Mann Han shot first. And Han was loose with the truth, that’s why he said the silly “Kessel Run in 12 parsecs” line which Obi Wan knew was BS but desperately needed transport for Luke so let it slide.
@MichaelFKane People didn’t like Empire back when it came out. Too many plot holes like Bespin. Too many unresolved issues.
Other Bespin explanations are that the imperial ships did hyperspace when the Falcon was piggy backed, or the Falcon had slower FTL w/o invoking hyperspace.
@MillieMarconnni >>>By 2026, almost every piece of software on earth has known security vulnerabilities<<<
The thing DJB taught us was this: It is possible to write code in C with a minimum of security holes. The code wasn’t 100% airtight, but it was pretty close.

“Office 2019 for Mac reached end of support on October 10, 2023, and no longer receives updates. Because Office 2019 cannot be updated to the required version, this issue cannot be resolved by updating or reinstalling Office 2019 for Mac.”
@DaddyWarpig I use a 2006 version @softmaker_com’s “Word” equivalent (TextMaker) when I need something lightning fast to write documents; otherwise I use LibreOffice when I need modern features (DOCX support, Color Fonts, ODT support, etc.)
Neither will ever expire like this.
