@DCGreyMattersUK Dave surely there is a difference between technique and biomechanics. In that technique can be individual based on performer constraints but biomechanics non-negotiables. Even in David’s et al book there are biomechanics.
What’s Dobble to do with coach development?
‘We perceive to act and we act to perceive’ Player development, to understand ‘skill learning’ is more than just technique.
Through sports specific tasks & play: Perceptual (direct & non direct), Decision making & Execution Skills
@Mr_Tennis_Coach Thanks for sharing. I wonder if an approach was taken based on the challenge point / what learning is happening, if that would hit home more than which theoretical perspective underpins practice.
@drstephenharvey@sportpsychshow@EdCope1 Thanks. If Ed is right that cognitive load theory isn’t just an IP perspective, I’d like to hear views on this from an ecological / direct perception perspective
@BritishRowing Great to see Lesley recognised (not that she would welcome the attention) for all her dedication, willingness to learn and of course athlete performances
@Mr_Tennis_Coach Congrats Phil. simplification-typically manipulating task constraints ie equipment by scaling rackets, bigger balls etc. Any experience making rackets heavier for serving to reduce the degrees of freedom? Thinking beginners who struggle to establish the grip and action of serving
@Strickomaster @JamyClamp@DCGreyMattersUK Through new book coming we propose a guided learning for majority of players, we believe players aren’t beginners for long, if are we think a coach led approach more appropriate to establish foundational skills prior to players doing more problem solving as thats the game demands
@kearney_phil Yes I’d like that. I’ll DM you. On another note just shared your post on feedbacking to our @irishbadminton CoP on WhatsApp, 300+ members 😀 @ian_sherwin
