🎤 Back at mic @finnvalley_ac as we welcomed back European 800m gold medallist Mark English.

A reception befitting of a special year by a special athlete.

Been fortunate to be trackside for many of Mark’s big moments so far and it was honour to host a historic night at FVAC 🙏

Studying English 101 🤓

Mark English 🇮🇪 puts on a textbook 800m performance to take the second semifinal at World Ultimates in 1:43.74 with a well-timed finishing kick. Interestingly, Marco Arop 🇨🇦 fades to third on the homestretch in 1:44.21 just 0.02 ahead of another major contender, Djamel Sedjati 🇩🇿, in the last qualifying spot at 1:44.23.

Unfortunately, Donavan Brazier 🇺🇸 ends up on the wrong side of the Q, finishing sixth in 1:44.47.

This is beautiful

[Brendan Boyle @BrendyBoyle]

Lots of Mark English coverage in the Spanish media today because he finished ahead of two Spaniards.

El Mundo calling him ‘intratable,’
unstoppable.

6.37m (+1.7) for Kate O'Connor in the Long Jump in Glasgow (furthest overall) and 6.23m PB (+1.2) for Anna McCauley.

Irish women in the long jump this year:
6.61 E Ndudi
6.51 L Callaghan
6.50 K O'Connor
6.47 R Millet
6.24 S Meredith
6.23 A McCauley
6.13 E Silkena
6.09 L Frawley

[TrackAthletes @TrackAthletesie]

It looks like withdrawals have been made: should see Neville (100m), Lawler (200m), Raftery (400m) & Allen (10,000m) added. Callaghan (LJ) also still on the list.

[Samjb @JohnByr93480373]

@TrackAthletesie Could Lauren Callaghan make the team under discretion if she hasn’t a B standard but in the quota ?

[TrackAthletes @TrackAthletesie]

@JohnByr93480373 Fingers crossed that this is what's happening. If ever there was a case for discretion, this is the time. Her consistency this season has been phenomenon. And we definitely need more field eventers competing at this level.
