Today, on the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death, her father has been detained. Reuters reports about this, citing a source close to the family. It is noted that "security forces" detained Amjad Amini in the west of Iran.
On September 7, Mahsa Amini's uncle was arrested.
Mahsa Amini was a 22-year-old woman of Kurdish origin who passed away on September 16, 2022, after being detained by morality police for violating hijab rules. Her death was followed by massive anti-government protests that spread across Iran. With the anniversary of her death and the possibility of a repeat of large-scale protests like the one last year, the Iranian regime is tightening its control in the country.
Protests have begun in various cities across Iran to mark the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death.
Sincere condolences to families and loved ones of all who gave their lives for freedom in Iran. Deep respect and admiration to Iranians who continue fighting for freedom of their homeland.
