@alyellen_ed At what point do the negatives outweigh the positives? Maybe never, but in the mean time I think we need to continually work on always making sure to critically analyze everything we come across on social media #unboundeq#4movesandahabit
@MrD73684771 One the huge negatives to social media platforms in my opinion. too easy for people to hide behind their keyboard. It's too often people say hateful things and not have to take any real ownership, just log off and pretend it never happened.
@KayOddone In a world where social media is so prevalent, we would be foolish not to take time to educate our youth on how to use it properly and how to critically analyze what they are reading via social media platforms. #unboundeq
I can't tell you how many times I search for something on my phone one day and the next am bombarded with ads on Facebook, unsettling to say the least. These algorithms creep me out. #unboundeq
@misskfranco Definitely something that I never saw coming, but as the author warned - societal safeguards should function in the 21st century. I think just as the shift was made from positive to negative it can be swapped back to providing a more positive influence on society #unboundeq
@caitlyn_bondy@Blessy93130561 The start of a connection which for some is the hardest part, my hope is that once these connections begin they can turn into a meaningful real life relationship of sending and receiving information. #unboundeq
A lot of us make the assumption that social media makes us anti-social, looking at this picture one could argue there is much more potential for interaction with the use of social media as a news source compared to burying our faces in the newspaper for hours on end #unboundeq
In the conclusion of Zeynep Tufekci's article she warns that "societal safeguards should function in the 21st century" it's time that we as consumers of digital technology and social media start to take ownership and stop placing blame. #unboundeq
Agreed! Social media is a great way to spark a connection, find common interests and start a conversation. Especially for those people who don't have the luxury or ability to engage otherwise. #unboundeq
In Tufekci's article, "People who were previously isolated in their dissent found and drew strength from one another." Platforms help us connect and help one another. It opens a connection that we maybe didn't have previously. #unboundeq#united
Although there are definite problems with social media I believe it's a great facilitator to spark a connection with people from around the world, excited to see where this twitter chat will take me today #unboundeq
Today in class I learned about the effectiveness of using success criteria and learning goals as a way to focus and guide student learning towards a goal, I do not have any questions related to this week's content ☺ @lclark65
