In the final stretch of grant writing, ruthlessly cutting words to squeeze into the word count limit. Feeling euphoric, unstoppable, and dangerously close to the word count 😵💫 #AcademicChatter#grantwriting
@wild_biologist@wild_biologist thanks for showing your setup. Thinking along similar CCTV lines. Did you use specialist software so you could view multiple camera views simultaneously?
This was my experience too, when moving to a large industry player after a career in academia. Obviously there is a strong interest in the subject of studies funded - but the work itself tends to be of high quality & and level of scrutiny lacking in most purely academic studies.
For all people who struggle with academic writing, Loisa Lagisz and I share our experiences and secrets, which helped 50+ students publish their first papers. Please share with your colleagues!

When starting my first postdoc, the supervisor applied for a 3-month grant extension to allow me to start after handing in my PhD. I want to get a feel if this is unusual or not.
UKRI grant holders, have you ever applied for a grant extension to allow a new #postdoc to start a post at a later date than advertised? #AcademicTwitter@UKRI_News
