Denise Gilmore feels like she’s being taxed out of Humboldt Park.
Her property tax bill has ballooned more than 60%.
Taxes could hit even harder next year after Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi’s office increased the home’s value by $60,000. https://t.co/iVmXqkl1eA
@chrisbriem@juliaonjobs I saw. And it's not just education, who typically start to staff up around now. Not sure why. I guess we'll wait for revisions.
Do you have a smaller regional public with declining enrollment and a student-to-instructor ratio of less than 20 in your area? Then this might be coming your way, too.
WIU has 7,500 students, with 285 tenured and 81 tenure-track faculty (plus about 80 instructors). It's not a great situation, but it's clear to see that the university is going after one of its largest salary line items.

@chrisbriem It’s probably going up quite a bit everywhere. A lot of that General Revenue Sharing funded infrastructure is past due replacing and the money has to come from somewhere. Never mind the cost of treating the water.
Look at some of these reports from the @govfinanceUIC. They clearly outline that rate increases (and therefore bill increases) tend to be quite large. And that's mostly among public providers.

Not indexing rates or including annual changes leads to large single year increases regardless of ownership status. A public utility would have just as sizable increases (and have).

Take Willowbrook's increase in 2023. Depending on your water usage, say 13k gallons (a lot, but not unreasonable if you water your yard), you can easily get to a $ 30-a-month increase.

Question: What states adopted (and in what years) the Standard State Zoning Enabling Act before Euclid? I have the states but not the years, and I cannot seem to find them anywhere.
Kansas will greatly expand its sales and tax revenue bond program in an effort to entice the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs and Major League Baseball's Kansas City Royals to cross the border from Missouri, under legislation Gov. Laura Kelly signed on Friday. https://t.co/ztC1jkL68E
Word is that NBC has managed to finally secure the music rights necessary to sell Homicide: Life On The Streets" to a streaming platform. Andre, Richard, Yaphet, Ned, and so many others who labored on that wonderful show on both sides of the camera will soon regain a full share of their legacy. Stay tuned for more details. #HLOTS #FontanaLevinson
What if I told you there was a place with plentiful drinking water, a temperate climate with lots of climate change overhead, and reasonably cheap housing? That place is Chicago, but the name itself turns people off.

This is unequivocally a good thing. Regardless of which one, local elected office is a considerable time commitment, and we should adequately compensate people to do it. Also, it allows more people, some of whom don't run because of financial concerns, to run for office.
