I really don't think it's a good idea to have citizenship on someone's driver's license.

Starting July 2, Albertans can get a new driver’s licence or ID card that includes their healthcare number and proof of citizenship, all on one secure card at no additional cost.

No more flimsy paper cards. No more carrying multiple pieces of ID. Just a common-sense change that makes life easier.

Ce document est empreint de promesses excessives, mais manque cruellement de garde-fous essentiels pour protéger la population et garantir que les avantages de cette technologie ne profitent pas uniquement à une poignée de géants de la tech et d'investisseurs.

Il propose une accélération massive de l'adoption de l'IA par les entreprises, sans se soucier des conséquences pour les travailleuses et travailleurs, en particulier les jeunes qui voient déjà leurs perspectives de carrière s'évaporer.

Ce gouvernement nous impose une technologie révolutionnaire sans aucun débat public. C'est pourquoi, avant de foncer tête baissée, sans freins, nous avons besoin d'un cadre réglementaire solide. Tous les autres secteurs d’activité de ce pays, de la foresterie aux services bancaires, sont réglementés. Pourtant, curieusement, lorsqu’il s’agit d’intelligence artificielle générative contrôlée par des milliardaires proches de Trump, les règles habituelles ne s’appliquent pas.

Les néo-démocrates appuient le développement de technologies de pointe. Pour l’IA, cela se traduit par un apprentissage automatique responsable, avec des ensembles de données restreints et circonscrits, et des applications ciblées.

Nous réclamons une stratégie d’IA qui place l’humain au cœur de l’expérience. Une stratégie qui protège les emplois, les données et les ressources naturelles du Canada. Pas une stratégie qui imite les pires dérives des chatbots IA. Leur présenter des avantages illusoires et flatter les PDG des grandes entreprises technologiques en leur disant exactement ce qu’ils veulent entendre.

I worked at CBS News for almost 6 years. It was a place that frequently drove me crazy bc of how resistant it was to change. How difficult it was to get things done bc you had to fight so many people and their “Cronkite and Murrow would roll over in their graves if they saw” mentality.

For those who think Scott Pelley was part of the problem, you are wrong. Yes he could be rigid and a stickler for certain traditions. But I will tell you now the Gen Z people I worked w all loved him. Like me, they forgave a lot of his boomer ways bc we were in awe of investigations he did using hidden cameras exposing snake oil salesmen hurting Americans; showing us how Assad was using chemical weapons on his own people; the pain of rural Americans waiting for half a day to get affordable healthcare in a parking lot of a mobile clinic; his searing interviews w survivors of mass shootings.

Yeah he was old fashioned in some ways. I used to tease him bc he always had trouble pronouncing Beyoncé’s name.

But he was willing to be pushed. He was open to new ideas. The fact that someone like me and someone like him got along so well is proof of that. The guy made me a better thinker and a better journalist.
