@DistantCoder Enter the YCS and lose, you'll think you should've just played Genesys. Enter Genesys and lose, you'll think advanced wouldn't have been any better anyways. Genesys gives the best chance to win and the least regret if you do lose.
@Gekiphy@House_of_Champs Much more of a collectible game when there's a good anime airing alongside it. I remember wanting to collect all the heroes when GX was live. They had something going with the XYZ numbers too for a bit. Need a good anime soon
@LuneShimmers@statesminds@House_of_Champs But the thread is about why other games sell and Yugioh doesn't. Magic is trending more collectible, Pokémon is collectible, Yugioh is competitive. People don't want fluff from packs in competitive games. But a fan of Spiderman will buy play boosters for the art and references.
@LuneShimmers@statesminds@House_of_Champs Yep, that was said. Highly collectible, highly played. I wouldn't use Vivi to argue though. Standard has been dying for years now. It's a struggle to even find standard within 100 miles anytime RCQ season is another format. UB is way more casual and collectible than playable.
@statesminds@House_of_Champs Pokémon collectors don't play with their cards whereas Magic players collect full arts, UBs, alternates, etc to put them in a commander deck to show off. Yugioh though, the value of collecting is going down slowly but surely. So packs aren't really worth it for a chase card.
@statesminds@House_of_Champs Magic is in an odd place right now. Highly collectible, highly played (though mostly casually). So it hits both markets for sure. It's just trending collectible with UB releasing as often as it does. But different kind of collecting than Pokémon for sure.
@House_of_Champs Definitely have some work to do for sealed product. I think they could ditch mega packs and reprint staples at lower rarities in their main sets, for example. Include higher end product like the Albaz decks they're releasing. Like the legendary decks they've done before, etc.
In lieu of Hasbro mentioning romantasy universes beyond, I thought it appropriate to shar a project I worked on earlier this year. To get some friends' wives and daughters back into Magic (they've played before), I created a fully custom proxy deck using the Fourth Wing IP.
In addition to the #FourthWing custom proxy deck I made them, I'm now working on a custom #ACOTAR proxy deck as well! Here's the start, though I have so much to go. This one will have two options as the commander, but still keeping 5-color to add as many aspects from the series.
Also, some of the cards have typos or missing info (I forgot Legendary on the Empyrean and forgot a space in General Sorrengail's effect). They're being fixed and reprinted as we find them!
