We just can’t use or not use a certain medium. We have to really understand what it’s for, how it addresses our learners’ needs and contributes to the achievement of their aims.

That said, I personally learn better with videos.

One of the biggest mistake we made in education is to fall for the "digital natives" idea. Reality is the students need to be taught digital skills. Their lack of basic proficiency with eg Word and Excel stops them from thinking about the content. They're overloaded cognitively.

We both feel that this has a lot to do not only with safeguarding academic reputation but also the conservative idea of what teaching and learning should be. We’ve observed that most learners still look at teachers as the main drivers of learning.
