As we get deeper into the fall coaches are getting a better understanding of what they have in their freshman class. Over the next few weeks we will dig into who has impressed and who we are hearing may be in line for significant work loads.

There is a lot to love about Portland’s ace Nick Brink. The 6’2 righty has a legit 4 pitch mix (FB, SL, CH, CB) with three of the pitches grading above average on @Johnny_Davis12's stuff+ model (FB 116, CH 114, SL 103).
Through his first two starts he is yet to give up a run, tossing 12 innings, allowing 7 hits, 4 bb, while striking out 19. The FB is his best pitch with 20 inches of ride, averaging 92 mph (T94), with good extension.
The CH has also flashed plus. Albeit a small sample, Brink has dominated LHHs with the CH, drawing 8 whiffs on all 8 swings.
A really interesting mid major follow that could quickly move up boards as the season progresses.
Tim Noone with a strong D1 debut for the Blue Devils. Transfer from @BabsonBaseball finished with 3IP, 2H, ER, 0 BB, 4K. Fills up the zone. Keeps hitters off balanced. A part of a deep @DukeBASE staff.
Jamie Arnold (@FSUBaseball) kept the Butler lineup off-balance all day on Sunday going 5IP, 2H, 0BB, 0ER, 9K and earning the win for the Seminoles.
Arnold attacks hitters with a fastball (90-94 T96) from an incredibly low slot that generated 9 whiffs last weekend and a sweeper (79-84) that is very tough on LHHs. Jamie rounds out his mix with a developing changeup that is rarely used and exclusively vs RHHs.
Exciting ‘25 eligible arm who showcased a couple extra ticks on the fastball and improved control from a year ago. Generates a lot of ground balls.
Day 1 potential.
Coastal Carolina v Indiana featured one of the more underrated pitching matchups from opening weekend. A game that was much closer than the final 7-2 score would indicate began with 4 scoreless thanks to a pair of emerging pitching prospects.
Alexander Meckley (@CoastalBaseball) went 4.1 IP allowing 3H, 3BB, 2ER, 6K.
A really strong outing that was a bit tainted by 2 walks, HBP, and 2 runs in the 5th. Meckley works out of high 3/4 slot with a riding fastball (92-96), 12-6 curveball (77-81), and a sweepish slider (82-84). Low effort delivery. Great feel for the CV. Fastball velo dipped a bit after the 4th.
Connor Foley (@IndianaBase) opened the season with a line of 4 IP, 2H, 2BB, 0ER, 7K. He features a fastball (93-97), cutter (87-90), slider (83-86), and changeup (81-84). Foley’s SL and CH showed some flashes but generally lacked feel to locate which, after throwing each pitch only a handful of times in 2023, may take a few weeks to get into mid season form.
Meckley and Foley share some similar traits:
-workhorse build
-higher slot
-dominant at the top of the zone
-mid 90s heater
-budding command
-lack of history with a starter’s workload
-high FF usage vs RHHs
-turning 21 in mid-July
Intriguing arm talent that should end up hearing their names called on Day 2 in July.
A pretty spectacular opening weekend for blue chip FR Drew Burress. The Georgia Tech star was one of the highest rated incoming freshman to land on campus.
Burress went 6-14 against Radford with 6 xbh. A legit 5 tool prospect, Burress should be right in the mix for FR of the year.
ARE YOU A PITCHER LOOKING TO PITCH IN THE CAPE LEAGUE?
The Hyannis Harbor Hawks are always looking for pitchers at any level of collegiate baseball. We’ve had great success finding players at the D2 and JUCO levels who have played for us and excelled, making the All-Star game and eventually getting drafted.
What we have found is many players who aren't playing at the D1 level have been told playing on Cape isn't realistic.
We don’t care if you throw 95+. We don’t care how tall you are, what your Perfect Game rating was. Weird slot? Outlier pitch with a ton of whiff? We are in.
If you have interest playing in the best summer league in the country here’s your chance to shoot your shot. You must include video, any Trackman or Rapsodo data and collegiate and summer league stats. Please email: [email protected]

💎Draft Sleeper💎
LMU and new head coach Donegal Ferguson got an absolute stud in Daalen Adderley (@Dae_day242) . Born in Nassau, Bahamas Adderley has had quite the baseball journey.
He started his collegiate career at D2 Tusculum in Greenville, TN. In 2020 his season was cancelled due to the pandemic after only 13 games. In 2021 he slashed .318/.531./.727 in 25 games.
In 2021 he decided to transfer to powerhouse JUCO Wabash Valley (@WVCBaseball) where he slashed .361/.533/.590 with 15 2b, 6 HR while sporting a minuscule 12% whiff rate.
After a year at Wabash he transferred to D1 Texas Southern (@TXSOBASEBALL), where he absolutely went off. He was named the SWAC Player of the Year after slashing .421/.541/.624 with a 1.165 OPS, 23 XBH and 18 bags. He walked more than he struck out and again displayed +contact with a 12.7% k rate. His .421 avg is 3rd best in D1 for players returning to school in ‘24 and his .541 OBP is best in the nation for retuning players.
Adderley is a little undersized at 5’9 but showcases impressive power for his frame. 61% of his balls were hit over 95 mph with a max EV of 107.1 mph, 90th - 105.6 mph. Last week he homered twice in his scrimmage against a very good UCSB team. He can play 2B, SS, 3B and all 3 OF positions. At the next level he profiles as a 2B or CF. Super twitchy athlete with above average speed. He plays with an infectious energy. Should star for @lmulionsBSB. One of the players I’m most excited to watch this spring!
Georgia played Florida this week in a much anticipated exhibition. Our @gabyvitalee was there and has the rundown on stars like:
⚾️Jac Caglianone
⚾️Liam Peterson
⚾️Colby Shelton
⚾️Brody Donay
⚾️Charlie Condon

💎 Fall Buzz 💎
West Virginia may have their next ace in Freshman RHP Chase Meyer (@chasemeyer124)
The 6’3 Combine Academy star was the top arm brought in by head coach Randy Mazey and staff.
Ranked the 109th player in the nation by PBR, Meyer is a power arm sitting 94-96 and occasionally operating in the upper 90’s with 2500 RPMs. He throws from a low three quarters slot, which allows him to profile well up in the zone with a high vertical attack angle.
He has showcased a sharp slider spinning it at 3300 RPM around 83-86 mph.
He rounds out his arsenal with a hard changeup with fading action to LHH from 85-87 mph as well.
Meyer could immediately jump into WVU’s weekend rotation with the graduation of Blaine Traxel and Ben Hampton’s transfer to conference rival TCU.
💎 ‘24 Draft Sleeper 💎
One of my favorite draft sleepers is College of Charleston’s OF Dariyan Pendergrass ( @dariyanpenderg4) . Pendergrass was a South Carolina commit and enrollee out of Hartsville Highschool. After missing his Freshman fall at USC rehabilitating from shoulder surgery, he decided to transfer to Spartanburg Methodist CC to get immediate collegiate at bats and to grow under legendary JUCO Head Coach Tim Wallace.
During his two years at Spartanburg Methodist, Pendergrass slashed .403/.489/.546 with a 1.030 OPS, 23 2B, 9 3B and 3 HR. He went an astonishing 75-77 in stolen bases and walked 55 times to only 27 K’s in 414 PA (6.5% whiff).
Over the summer Pendergrass was one of the best players in the Coastal Plains League where he was named an All-Star and helped Lexington capture the 2023 CPL title. For the Blowfish he slashed .354/.438/.520 with a .958 OPS. He stole 35 bags in 32 games with 9 2Bs, 3 3Bs and 2 HR while walking more than he struck out (20:19).
Pendergrass is a twitchy athlete with an advanced feel for the barrel. It’s contact over power, but there is room in his frame to gain weight. The approach is impressive with elite bat-to-ball skills (8% whiff over his last 567 AB’s). He is a slash and dash hitter where he uses his 70 grade speed to put a ton of pressure on the defense. A 6.5 runner, he is a game changer on the base paths where he creates absolute havoc. In CF he shows really good instincts with great routes and +range.
Pendergrass will be one of the more exciting players in the nation this spring where his style of play reminds me of Rikuu Nishida. Day 2 upside.
In Florida’s battle against Georgia, transfer Colby Shelton gave us a preview of what’s to come this spring.
2023 at Bama: .299/.418/.725, 25 HR (T-2ND) 51 RBI, 155 wRC+ (9th), 485 wOBA (9th), 1.143 OPS (8th)
*SEC Ranks
Alabama transfer Colby Shelton is going to be a solid bat this year for the Gators, especially if he can clean up the s/m. Big shoes to fill defensively taking over for Rivera at SS. Shelton went 2-3 with an RBI last night vs UGA. He hit .301 with 25 HR’s last year for Bama
One of the more intriguing players for The Tide’s offense is transfer Evan Sleight.
The outfielder spent three seasons at Rutgers and spent the summer of 2023 in the Draft League where he slashed .324/.383/.507 line to go with 3 HR, 24 RBI in 81 PAs
🚨Weekend Top Performers Report🚨
Lots of action around D1 this weekend, let’s start with Alabama vs Florida State
Pitching was certainly sharp as The Tide took Game 1; 5-3, but dropped Game 2; 2-0.
Bryce Eblin enters the fall fresh off the heels of a dominant summer in the Cape League where he hit .367/.429/.392 with 20 RBI in 32 games. He also showcased a solid glove, splitting time between 3B & 2B
