@ZegrasTrevor With McTavish gone and Terry slated to miss 20+ games, Verbeek better be pushing for Kane, Mantha, or a trade to bring in some other middle 6 winger.
If Verbeek expects us to take a step back then it just makes the trade of a first for John Carlson all the more puzzling.
@DucksDaily93 My guess is Verbeek's plan is to pursue Rasmus Andersson. There were reports at the deadline that Anaheim had interest in him, and it's hard to see who else on the market would justify creating the amount of cap space they've freed up by trading McTavish and Zellweger.
@ducksfan49erfan If anything it indicates to me that Arte isn’t here for the long haul. An owner that notoriously meddles in baseball ops gives the team president who’s not even 4 months into her job the complete authority to hire a new GM and Moreno doesn’t even care to meet him first?? Sus.
@Jamescorn135731@reporterchris And again, Robo's value isn't just about how good he is. If he's limiting his destinations and asking for a massive contract, that shrinks the market and hurts his trade value.
If reporting is accurate, the Stars don't have nearly as much leverage as you seem to think they do.
@Jamescorn135731@reporterchris If your entire evaluation of a center is "65 points," then sure I guess he's not elite lol.
Larkin drives play at both ends, wins faceoffs, kills penalties, and consistently takes on top competition while playing with a much weaker supporting cast than what he'd have in Dallas.
@d00rki3@BeyondTheHalo@Jared_Tims Both players the Ducks drafted seem like quality prospects and will fill out the left side of our forward group nicely.
Moving on McTavish and Zellweger also gives them more flexibility to extend Cutter, Leo, and Minty and potentially go big-game hunting once free agency opens.
@Jamescorn135731@reporterchris Dallas would be turning an unsigned RFA with unrealistic contract demands and a late first round pick into an elite 1C under contract for five more years who reportedly wants to play there. Why wouldn't they consider that?
@DucksNPucks Bringing in Wahlberg and draft capital make senses if you’re planning to move on from McTavish.
On paper it’s not a great trade, but we’ll have to wait and see if this is just setting the stage for something else.
