@Stellarated I got this letter yet your department still has a surplus of over R400m Mxm . You truly hate us. Also , we requested for proof. Not just a report
Parents, especially young parents, please open an investment account for your children. The sooner, the better.
And I do not mean a savings account with a bank that earns next to nothing and loses to inflation every year. I mean a proper investment account where the money is actually working, and you are able to earn interest and dividends.
So many parents are still being sold education policies and endowment policies for their children. The fees on those products are eye-watering, the returns are limited, and the flexibility is almost zero. You are locked in, paying high commissions to the agent who signed you up, while your money grows at a fraction of what it could in a properly diversified ETF.
Please rethink this. Open the investment account. Choose a few solid long-term ETFs like the Satrix MSCI World, the Satrix 500, or the Satrix Top 40. Start with a once-off contribution of N$1,000 and set up a debit order of just N$700 a month from the day your child is born.
Let me show you what that looks like at 14 percent per year, which is the long-term average return, and I mean average, for diversified equity portfolios.
By age 18, your child's portfolio is worth approximately N$685,000. By age 21, it grows to roughly N$1.07 million. By age 25, it reaches N$1.9 million.
All from a N$1,000 starting amount and N$700 a month, which is less than what many people spend on takeaways and subscriptions in a month.
Imagine your child stepping into adulthood with that kind of foundation. Capital for a business. A deposit for their first home. The freedom to choose their path instead of being trapped by financial pressure.
This is how generational wealth begins. Not with policies. Not with savings accounts. With proper investment accounts started early and left to compound.
