@Garry42779 Hi Garry - Apologies for the confusion. The screengrab you have there is out of date. We updated the PJ article at around 10.40am yesterday for accuracy:
. @rpharms will become a royal college by spring 2026 after 71.1% of members who voted were in favour of the proposal #ukpharmacy#RPS#rpharms https://t.co/bb4c9XqyiD
This was a fascinating piece to research - thank you to everyone who spoke to me for it. Pharmacists definitely do have a role to play in ED - especially with the increase in long waits.
There’s a correction on this post that shows it was a majority decision of those that voted to turn into a Royal College.
However 31.4% turnout, which for reference was far higher than turnout in English Board election was 7.3% (2023) and 10.1% (2024).
@TheConfusion@AliJaneMoore Hi Jono - Thanks for your response. We have since amended the standfirst to more accurately reflect that the 71% refers to the votes cast.
@Pharmacistdaz Hi Darren - Thank you for highlighting this. We have corrected the standfirst to more accurately reflect that the 71% refers to the votes cast.
@rpharms vote "REJECT"; my @PJOnline_News letters again of this week:
Reject the royal college proposals to keep a Society for the benefit of pharmacists https://t.co/zPbfqVqqto
RPS charter changes do not guarantee a pharmacist-led Board of Trustees https://t.co/tRCGiCFoFt
NHS trusts in England have started taking the first steps towards a dedicated pharmacy service for emergency departments, but as @AliJaneMoore discovered, there is a long way to go before each trust has the recommended support in place

In board papers published on 6 February 2025, @NHSEngland has proposed a diabetic eye screening programme to be delivered by community health centres, high street opticians or pharmacies

Good article - as "captives in the audience" of the GPhC, it would be good to see a pause, and reflection before the second rise in fees.
Evidence of the improvement & efficiency gains being shared.
Perhaps no second rise if improvement is lacking.
I can dream...
If you missed it, catch up on RPS Chief Executive Paul Bennett’s interview with @PJOnline_News in which he sets out our ambitious proposals for change, and what this will mean for the profession.

I am delighted to share a piece of work that I have co-authored with @danielleyadams . As far as I am aware, it is the first article that goes into detail about psychotropic deprescribing in people with Learning Disability from an ethnic minority background. #MulticulturalSTOMP
