@cc_nb's Dr. Moe Qureshi discusses the real culprit behind yesterday's gas price hike in today's edition of the @TJProvincial. #nbpoli
https://t.co/TGqb9WGPbq
The blame for the upcoming gas price increase on July 1st lies with the province, not the federal government. N.B. created a loophole allowing refiners to pass costs associated with cleaning up their fuel on to the consumer.

Our coastal waters are warming, from the surface to the bottom, leading to complex, and sometimes unpredictable, changes in the ecosystem. 🌊🌡️
With our coastal waters under increasing stress it is critical we reduce emissions fast and restore habitats to help our coastal ecosystems weather the literal and figurative storms of climate change.🐠🌊
Luckily, there’s still time to act! Check out our website to learn more about our marine conservation program and how to play your part in restoring habitats⤵️

Following the Atlantic premiers' call to delay the implementation of the Clean Fuel Regulations, we've joined with Canadian environmental groups in urging them to adhere to the July 1st implementation date.
In 2020, the Clean Fuel Regulations were already delayed to give industries time to prepare. There is no reason to delay further.

The Solar Butterfly is a remarkable mobile house that is towed by a fully-electric car. However, it goes beyond that—it serves as a self-sustaining power plant, providing energy to the vehicle that pulls it. With its 120 m2 solar panels, the car can travel up to 300 km per day solely on clean, renewable energy. ⚡
Bring the whole family to indulge in a day of creativity, excitement, and education. Engage in crafts, play games, and enjoy snacks and drinks. Don't miss the chance to take an exclusive tour of the groundbreaking Solar Butterfly! 🦋☀️
We can’t wait to see you there!

Let's prioritize the electrification of school buses in Canada for a cleaner and healthier future!
The Canadian Electric School Bus Alliance unveils a groundbreaking study, paving the way for widespread adoption of electric school buses.
"The study highlights 4 strong advantages to electric school buses: they are (1) logistically easier to operate, (2) less polluting and better for the environment, (3) better for children’s health, and (4) more cost effective in the long run."

“NB Power and the premier kept saying it was wind who didn’t show up but my fact checking shows it was Hydro-Quebéc that stopped giving power during the cold snap,” Moe Qureshi, our manager of climate solutions, told Brunswick News this week, responding to false claims that misled New Brunswickers into thinking wind turbines failed New Brunswickers during the Feb. 4 cold snap earlier this year.
Rather, Qureshi criticized New Brunswick's political and public utility leadership for delaying investments in renewables and battery storage, a move that would significantly improve the province's energy security as well as reduce a large amount of greenhouse gas emissions by providing a transition away from fossil fuels.

Our letter-writing campaign is calling on the federal government to implement a strong and effective Clean Electricity Regulation that protects our planet, communities, and wallets.
The proposed Clean Energy Regulation (CER), coming this spring, needs to embrace non-emitting energy sources like wind, solar, and hydro power and ditching fossil fuels no later than 2035.
We're collecting as many letters as we can by June 6 so we can present them on Parliament Hill with the @DavidSuzukiFDN

We agree with Moira Brown from the @CanWhaleInst in this article.
Huge credit to the fishing industry for being engaged, active partners in limiting our impact on right whales. Fishers, working with many partners, have made major changes to how they fish, and that needs to be acknowledged.
We also urge DFO to read the recommendations from the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans closely, but not to act rashly to relax the measures in place. These measures are working. It is hard to track whales in the ocean. Not seeing or hearing a whale does not mean they aren't there.
We look forward to the ongoing hard work and commitment of fishers, fishing associations, government agencies, and NGOs in their efforts to save the right whales.
