i’m going to say this very clearly because apparently there is a line some of you are incapable of recognizing and it’s disgusting.

disclaimer: i have not changed my stance on people publicly announcing that they’re dropping the boycott.

if you spent months advocating for it, built an account around it, encouraged other people to participate and then publicly announce that you’re walking away, people are allowed to be disappointed. they’re allowed to disagree with you. they’re allowed to criticize that decision. you made it public, and public decisions get public reactions.

which suggestion: if you cannot or do not want to boycott anymore, just step away quietly. you do not need a dramatic announcement explaining your departure to thousands of people, especially when you know your platform has been associated with this movement. all it does is create another wave of discussions, discourage the people still trying and turn one personal decision into everyone else’s problem.

but what the hell are some of you doing in people’s dms?

disagreement does not mean harassment. disappointment does not mean threats. criticism does not mean telling someone to hurt themselves, wishing harm on them or treating them like they suddenly stopped being a human being because they made a decision you hate. get your shit together.

and the fact that this even needs to be explained is fucking ridiculous.

if you see someone in a fragile state and your first instinct is to keep attacking them because you think winning a fandom argument matters more, something has gone seriously wrong.

you can hold people accountable without being cruel. you can criticize hypocrisy without becoming vicious. you can unfollow, block, disagree and move on without hunting someone down in their dms.

and frankly, i’m getting tired of watching people preach about protecting human beings from exploitation, harassment and mistreatment only to completely forget those principles the second the human being in question is another fan they’re angry at.

pick a principle. and actually stand by it.

i will continue boycotting. i will continue criticizing public decisions that i believe undermine it. i’m not going to water down my position just because it makes some people uncomfortable.

but if your idea of “defending the boycott” involves threats, harassment or pushing another person further when they are already clearly struggling, do not pretend you are doing that in the name of something i stand for.

there is a difference between accountability and cruelty.

you know what? i don’t care anymore.
there will never be enough “closure” for me because my issue was never heeseung choosing solo work. my issue is everything that made that choice necessary in the first place. so yes…call me whatever you want, i couldn’t care less. i stand firm in my choice, and i’ll keep speaking even if i’m the last one standing. this stopped being about fan feelings a long time ago.
