Do you ever wonder why God allows evil and suffering? We all suffer at times in a variety of ways. And even on our best days, when the sun is shining, our homes are standing, and we’re lying by a pool sipping lemonade, we hear of other people’s suffering. We tap on our news app and scroll through headline after headline about wars, crime, famines, earthquakes, disease, missing persons, and death. It’s heartbreaking. We live in a broken, hurting world. And so, it comes as no surprise that the most popular question people have for followers of Jesus is: "If your God is so loving, why does He allow all of this evil and suffering?" It turns out that there are many good reasons God allows evil and suffering. I discuss several of them in my new book, IF GOD IS LOVING, WHY DOES HE ALLOW EVIL AND SUFFERING?

Genesis 1–11 is the history that is foundational to the rest of the Bible and thus our worldview. So, when we start with God’s Word, we learn that the God revealed to us in the Bible is the one who created all things.
By just looking at the world, for instance at DNA, we might deduce that there’s an intelligence behind life. But we would not know who that intelligence is unless revealed to us. The Bible reveals who that intelligence is—God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
If we just looked at the world with all its death, suffering, and disease, we could assume that the intelligence behind life must be an ogre to make such a suffering world. But when we start from God’s Word, we understand there was no death or disease to start with but entered the world because of sin.
We also find that man has a problem called sin which alienated him from God. We even find in Genesis that God promised someone would come to save us from our sin and restore our relationship with God (Genesis 3:15, 21). We learn later on that “someone” is Jesus.
When someone's struggling, be there, listen, let your presence speak. Learn from Job’s friends and be there for them in their suffering.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my earthly father, Norvell Frederick Woods Jr., who passed away this morning at the age of 89. I found out this news just after giving my sermon today at Sugar Land Bible Church, which my dad no doubt watched from heaven. It is so fitting that he would pass on Memorial Day weekend. He was a wonderful patriot, constitutionalist, jurist, and Christian. He was the greatest person I have ever known. He has always been, and continues to be, my hero. He lived an exemplary life as you can see from this brief biography written about him several years ago. Your prayers are much appreciated for me and my family at this time. https://t.co/cyyWt7GekO

Next time you are in a disagreement, be gentle in your words and prayers. Take the first step and say something gentle. Grace, peace, healing, and forgiveness will then be yours. #Gentleness

The last enemy is death—it may be a hard struggle—it may be a dark valley; yet look where Stephen looked; and, lo! Jesus is standing at the right hand of God, waiting to receive you to himself.
Never imply that the survivor is to blame for their abuse. Nothing a child has ever done, no matter how provocative, is justification for abuse. Child sexual abuse is a criminal act. The abuser ALWAYS carries responsibility for the abuse.
Jesus said…love your neighbor, as you love yourself.
Rom.12:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor.
Christians should be the kindest people. Not harming others in word, actions, or otherwise.
Providing for hundreds of reptiles and amphibians would present unique challenges. The smaller varieties could have been kept in clay pots with some water at the bottom, allowing these animals to be kept in moist environments, if necessary.
In an ever-changing world, “I am the LORD, I do not change…”.
Take comfort in the unchangeable nature of our God.
May you have a blessed Sunday and hopefully are able to participate, worship and hear the word of God taught corporately with other believers.
"No life is ever wasted when it is invested in bringing people to Jesus. No life is ever wasted when it is lived for the glory of God. Life is wasted when it is lived for selfish ambition."
